To change my username often?

Been a regular on MN for some time now. And changed my username loads… Literally whenever I feel I have shared too much or someone might put two and two together who I know in RL, I change it.

Just wondering if this is normal practice on here, how often is the norm to change username and AIBU if I keep changing it?

I do the same. Have been on here a year or so and had about 15 user names.

I’ve been here 10 years plus and change it all the time.

Change all the time either if I’ve overshared or I happen to think of something else to use. I do have a fear of someone I know IRL asking me if it was me on MN.

I have been on here about 13 years and have had about 6 names which I don’t think is enough really. I really need to get off this site altogether as 13 years is really sad 😂 I was 19 and deathly bored in callcentre and it did get me through tbh. Anyway, I try not to say things on here that I wouldn’t say IRL, as here you are talking to real people just like in real life.

Yeah - I'm another old lag who changes her name like she changes her socks.

I think it's more normal than not to.
I've been here since 2004 and when the site was smaller I kept the same name for about 5-6 years. Lost count now of how many I've had.

It's personal choice, no right or wrong answer but in any website it's never unreasonable to use any of the features imo

Me too. I only ever use the App, tried it once or twice and failed completely 😶

When I first joined I kept the same user name for about 10 years or so, but the internet and mumsnet and changed so much since then.

So for the last 7 or 8 years I change monthly. :(

It's a shame as it doesn't make it as personal, but safety first!

Been here since 2018. Bet I've changed weekly on average.

Pain in the arse if a thread you've been on is revisited and you have to keep changing your username each time you post on it.

I've been around for years on and off. I not only change my name but occasionally burn my entire account by ditching the email and starting a new one. I engage in one other online discussion place and link that, mumsnet and a few other things to an email I have every intention of ditching (usually about once a year).

It's just habit really.

Change regularly. It’s nice when you recognise regular posters, but no one wants to end up in the tabloids or recognised by a neighbour.

I change mine every couple of weeks since the hacking. Would be crazy not to imo.

I've been on here since 2008 but name change every couple of months.

I tend to just use one username unless it's a very specific circumstance I'm describing then I'll NC and change back when it's done.

Been on here since 2007 and I've got possibly 300 user names that I've used over 15 years.
Which reminds me. Time for a change.
