Drive thru Mcds on Christmas Day

It would be bad to do this…wouldn’t it..?

We live abroad and aren’t back to the U.K. to family this year, quite happy to be at home (Dh, Dd, 4 and dog)
Not really fussed about Christmas dinner, we don’t love it that much.
How bad would it be to get a drive through McDonald’s and eat it at the beach? 🙈We’d still have lovely buffet type favourite foods for Xmas Eve, plus a nice breakfast and all our favourite chocs & cheese & biscuits…we just wouldn’t have the main meal 😬I feel like if we did, we’d have to keep it secret and not tell our families, who would be outraged 🤣

If it’s a country where Christmas is celebrated, I would feel bad about the staff working. At least in a restaurant prices are inflated and the staff can expect better rates of pay/tips. I suppose you could tip the drive through staff; maybe that would make them more likely to accept the Christmas shift next year so that healthcare workers can get a coffee on their way to/from work.

Do you worry about getting a take away at Eid, Diwali or Yom Kippur? They are all celebrated in the UK along with many more.

You have experience of McDonald’s in multiple countries to make this assessment? Or did you not bother to read the fact the OP isn’t in the UK

Actually - yes. I've been abroad a lot over Christmas and in my experience, most are closed on Christmas Day. Unless OP is about to drip that she's not in a Christian country, in which case, the fact that it's Christmas Day would be irrelevant to opening times anyway.

This would be my perfect Xmas feeding, McDs & all the best picky bits for grazing! Grin

How sad that some McDonalds make their employees work on Christmas day.
Bloody money grabbers

Not everyone is Christian and cares about Christmas.
Some people would rather work and earn double time than stay home alone.

Lots of pubs are open on Christmas Day - is it also bad for their staff?
Lots of restaurants are open - also sad for them?

There are many people who work on Christmas Day, many in non essential jobs.

Why is McDonalds worse than those?

I assume when you take a job there you know which days the place is open. If Christmas Day is in the roster than you know it's a possibility.

Lots of people are more than happy to,work that day.

What country are you in OP? Is it nice and warm? Christmas Day on the beach sounds great. Traditions move on as people have their own families. We went to a restaurant last year - my parents would have been quite horrified.
