Show off your new £400 shoes on social media when you’re setting up an online auction to raise funds for your loss of earnings while your child has therapy? Not to mention there’s also an online fundraiser under way currently sitting at five figures.

You're obviously one of those annoying people who has millions. I'm fairly rich but even I know you're being unreasonable

IDontWantToBeAPie · 10/12/2022 01:49

Sorry misunderstood not for a chikd but for loss of earnings... still bonkers

IDontWantToBeAPie · 10/12/2022 01:52

OP I'd go so far as to share it to everyone involved in the fundraisers. Plenty of kids needs therapy, fucking hell im spending hundreds a month on it myself.

Anyone who can afford £400 shoes doesn't need the help they just don't want to get less rich from spending

Blackeyesbluetears · 10/12/2022 02:08

I'm surprised at the popularity of fund raisers. Maybe I should have done that for my sons therapies. I put his on my credit card

With draw the offer and say you need a new pair of boots.

I like it!

Say you need ten pairs, at £40 each.

If she was really hurting that bad she should have sold the shoes. You sound entitled.

Stichintime · 10/12/2022 02:55

Understand the poor mother needed a treat. A chocolate bar or a night out, great. £400 on a pair of shoes? I'd withdraw any offers of support.

Keyansier has a habit of posting unpopular opinions on Mumsnet.
Or maybe she is the person the OP is referring to.

Yep. Call them out all the time. I'm starting to think they're a troll.
Mind you , they once submitted a post that the world was against single mums because bread rolls come in packs of 4 so maybe just a bit unhinged 😂

EternalCountrygirl · 10/12/2022 03:07

I agree with you, dense

'absolutely utterly'?

If something is absolutely so then the 'utterly' is unnecessary, poppet. Back to school for you! x

Cheekymaw · 10/12/2022 04:04

£400 shoes and she's got the begging bowl out? Withdrawn the offer OP. What a cf!

Really you don’t? Guess you have a go fund me open now to raise funds right?

Tigofigo · 10/12/2022 05:06

Just being devil's advocate how do you know they cost that much?

I just bought a new looking pair of shoes on Vinted for about a third of rrp.

Outtasteamandluck · 10/12/2022 05:49

I was about to ask how you know the shoes were £400?

But yes CF never cease to amaze with their brazenness .....and stupidity.

WarmBrownEyes · 10/12/2022 00:32

Shoes were bought today with the tagline that she thought she deserved a treat.

I dunno. It is a bit strange but she's obviously going through some difficult stuff if she's having to raise money for her child's care. And £400 is a drop in the ocean compared to the 5 figure sum she needs for the child. It's not going to make or break whether they get the care.

I'm not saying it's right, but I can imagine she might be in a difficult mental place and we don't always make rational decisions when tested like that.

I also think it's quite nasty to start a spiteful thread about someone with a poorly child.

Omg I saw the thread and rolled with laughter! That made my night! Thank you for sharing! 😂😂😂

A five figure sum has been raised. It’s not to cover costs of care - that’s covered by the healthcare system. The money has been requested to cover loss of earnings while they were with their child in hospital away from home.

tensmumm · 10/12/2022 06:12

I knew someone that had a horse for each child (all under age 5) because it was her dream to have ponies growing up. She did many fundraisers and constantly asked for money to buy a therapy puppy at the same time, whilst neglecting the horses. She got the free dog and later sold it to someone online. She also had companies do up her garden for free and then sold the house. Some people are very selfish and unethical and don't think about how it impacts on others.

tensmumm · 10/12/2022 06:14

posted too soon. Anyway, no body else found it suss that she was always getting free things but irrationally bought things and splurged on herself. Perhaps no one thinks anything of your friend doing it either. I said nothing because it wouldn't change a thing and I had donated too. In your shoes I would just remember this and not donate again.

I don't think that makes any difference to the sentiment of what I was saying.

People going through difficult times sometimes do things that don't make sense from the outside. I think you should give her a break.

Of course you see something wrong , you just get a kick out of doing ridiculous posts 🙄

LlynTegid · 10/12/2022 08:25

It won't stop this begging (which is what it is), but perhaps asking the company who host the site about their rules and whether or not you can ask for a page to be withdrawn.

Perhaps also you could ask HMRC to check that this income is declared.
