To be utterly sick and tired of football protesters?

Is anybody else sick and tired of people protesting during the World Cup and feel like it's ruining it? I think we are all aware now of where this world cup is and the atrocities that helped build the stadium - but we don't need reminding every 5 minutes IMO. I feel like people can make their own mind up whether to watch or not, and not have people protesting and ruining the games for everyone else.

How does it ruin it? I've watched most of the games in this World Cup and it's not registered massively with me. It's a couple of minutes max which they have to fill for a bit. I'm more concerned about how the protestors will be treated by the security/police.

Unless mistaken, the protesters choose and had freedom to choose to.protest

It has literally ruined Christmas IMO having the world cup on now

Things are very easily ruined for you.

Peedoffo · 10/12/2022 01:56

Nope Qatar have used modern slavery to build those stadiums. Many young fit healthy men have died due to the working conditions. I won't be watching a tournament that's profiting from slavery.

The same was said of the suffragettes.

I think you need to get off your high horse tbh. You typed that response either on a laptop or a tablet or a mobile phone. All from parts which were put together by children in third world countries and sold for profit.

Yes but we already know what happened, we don't need protests about it IMO as it ruins it for everyone else

Oh dear. What a shame.

I've boycotted the whole thing anyway _and I'm a massive football fan usually.

SingingSantaChristmas · 10/12/2022 02:58

Yes, but not to the detriment of everyone else watching it who's enjoying it.

Goodness yes, that would be a travesty, compared to all those slave dying and all the women being stoned to death. We can't have the football spoiled can we over these petty human rights issues.

I am a huge lifelong football fan. Not watched a single match and frankly the whole thing is disgusting.

I'm with you. It's almost like these protesters don't understand that as long as I'm not affected by anything remotely interesting like human rights I don't deserve to have my enjoyment of football ruined! It's so annoying. I wish we'd employ more of that spirit here in the UK. Protesting at cost of living is frankly tedious! I just spent the best part of £500 for steak and couldn't give a toss that nurse has to go to a foodbank after a 12 hour shift.

Exactly. Some people are just so selfish disrupting our enjoyment with their petty protests.

Same here. The OP is tiresome whinging.

SingingSantaChristmas · 10/12/2022 03:01

But the thing is, people know that already. We don't need telling by protesters ruining things or people blocking stuff. It's patronising and annoying.

So you know it, understand it, but continue feeding the advertising revenue they get from you watching it, anyway?

It's not the protesters that are engaging in double think. Unless by "know it" you mean "know and don't care".

I've seen it all now.

No do you know what has been ruined? Football in general is tainted by FIFA and UEFA and individual FA functionaries. Completely stolen from us.

What hasn't been ruined? Christmas, anyone's enjoyment of the matches for more than a few seconds or FIFA, UEFA and national FAs. I want them bankrupt so football has to start again with a better umbrella organisation, hopefully not biased in favour of rich countries.

Brefugee · 10/12/2022 08:20

sorry - lives. Countless lives have been ruined. that should have been the first thing i wrote.

girlmom21 · 10/12/2022 08:26

I've quite enjoyed the winter tournament. It's filled the gap between I'm a celeb and Christmas nicely Grin

Herejustforthisone · 10/12/2022 22:29

Another string of highly valuable contributions from @Keyansier 😆

Devoutspoken · 10/12/2022 22:52

To be fair, the football has fucked up some Christmas events for me this year

MissTrip82 · 10/12/2022 23:40

Lol. Please stop reality from ruining things for me.

Quveas · 07/05/2023 08:34

Your "disrespect" is someone else's "freedom". I have no respect for a song, and even less for what it says or represents. I may not boo, but that is my choice - others have the right to react as they wish. Editing out such incidents, or arresting peaceful protesters, is propaganda and suppression best left to Iran or Russia.

Lol. No I didn't. I don't even know how I saw it then! Must have been sleep- typing. Excuse the error.
