They're not allowed to accept tips - we wanted to tip one of their drivers and that's what he said.

They absolutely do accept cash and I tip our delivery drivers regularly.

They shouldn't do - it's against their contract to do accept tips.

I worked for ASDA and knew a couple of drivers who got sacked when they were caught by mystery shoppers who were told to offer a tip to see if they could catch them out.

Give him some chocs for Christmas or bottle of wine if you want to give him a token gift!

If they are accepting tips from you they are breaking their contract. Do not tip supermarket delivery staff (unless they are Deliveroo/Uber)

Asda have a staff policy against this. I used to work at head office. A staff member found taking cash from customers, would be sacked. There’s an hour session on it at induction.

I don't work for asda but do deliver shopping and I fairly regularly receive a tip. We have never been told we cannot accept one.
When you've lugged 24 bottles of 2L evian and 36 cans of coke to the third floor a token of appreciation is welcomed.......however comes to think of it, it's never those ones that give the tip!

I don't think I've ever had the same delivery driver twice, if I had a regular one I might give them something at Christmas maybe.

I offer a cold drink on hot days but supermarket delivery drivers aren't allowed to accept cash tips.

I work in home delivery at morrisons. Accepting tips is a sackable offence. Husband works at Tesco. Same there.

Why is it cruel?

It's part of their contract not to accept tips. Just like it's part of their contract not to steal shopping or drive drunk 🤷🏻‍♀️

Our delivery driver was a woman last time, definitely not just men that do it!

Yeah we currently have 2 female drivers plus I take routes out when I have to (I'm a team leader)
