Racism in the Royal Family

Susan Hussey has resigned. Philip was coming out with similar comments in public all his life, yet there was no move to get rid of him. AIBU to think this is more royal hypocrisy?

Widely condemned in the press, SM, all over the place.

Let me guess...The Guardian and Twitter right?

TBF Hussey was trying to have a conversation with Fulani, it wasn’t a “line of questioning”. Quite a few of Fulani’s answers were only one or two words, which is more associated with a stroppy teen than an adult woman, and makes it very difficult to have a conversation. For example, when initially asked where she was from, instead of Fulani just answering “Sista Space”, she should have spoken about her charity.

You know full well, if you’ve read the retelling of it, that is not the case. Why are Hussey’s questions so short also, and yet you don’t compare her to a stroppy teen?

TooBigForMyBoots · 30/11/2022 21:28

thehorsehasnowbolted · 30/11/2022 21:23

There were witnesses

Who are they? Members of the charity also?

They were representatives from other charities. Is that important?

thehorsehasnowbolted · 30/11/2022 21:29

Why are Hussey’s questions so short also

Because we don't know what was actually said?

ZenNudist · 30/11/2022 21:29

It's a bit of a stretch to say that because some ancient lady in waiting to the Queen got into a conversational mess then the whole family are racist.

Having read the conversation the lady was obnoxious and shouldn't have kept talking. She would have been better off asking the woman's heritage if she were really interested. Lots of people are British but have international heritage. I do. If some snob thinks that is somehow not as good as being English back to Anglo saxon times I take that as a joke on her and probably says something about the effects of inbreeding. This controversy about the RF is ridiculous and manufactured.

thehorsehasnowbolted · 30/11/2022 21:29

Most likely

Shame you started that with tbf because you know fully well that you’re not being fair.

What stopped the older, more nature woman to ask about Sista Space?

XingMing · 30/11/2022 21:30

I'm white so unlikely to be asked this question, but I would like to ask, without prejudice, how any white person politely asks a POC where their family originated without the question being regarded as racist? I would genuinely like to know. For the record, I live in the Celtic fringe.

thehorsehasnowbolted · 30/11/2022 21:31

Why?

Aren't there any witnesses from Hussey's side? How odd

Questions tend to be shorter when you are trying to make conversation, this allows people answering the question to expand on what they are saying. HTH

TheKeatingFive · 30/11/2022 21:31

Let me guess...The Guardian and Twitter right?

No. not at all.

But even if you were right in your little assertion, it would still be clear that no, it wasn't just that one posters interpretation, driven by vindictiveness.

Crack on though love. Monarchists cheering on these clanging errors of judgement only harm perceptions of the royals. If their supporters had two brain cells to rub together they'd be vigilant against these displays.

And… The FT, The Times, The Mirror, The Spectator…

thehorsehasnowbolted · 30/11/2022 21:32

without the question being regarded as racist?

It's probably best not to engage in this climate

HannibalHeyes · 30/11/2022 21:32

Just wow! An exceptional number of racists willing to out themselves on this thread!

Mad isn't it. You'd think they'd have the self awareness to keep it zipped.

Probably best you don’t.. until you get Hussey’s response!! Gosh I bet she’s releasing a rebuttal asap that you can definitely rely on

I'm honestly staggered by it. MNers usually at least pretend to be better than that.

thehorsehasnowbolted · 30/11/2022 21:34

Why bother? The 'perceptions' would already be determined (and posted all over Twitter) before the royals would have a chance to speak. Talk of prejudice and bias...

toffeecrisps · 30/11/2022 21:34

TooBigForMyBoots · 30/11/2022 21:28

Yeah, there's a conspiracy among the whole charity sector to inaccurately portray this random lady if waiting as racist... for some reason.

TooBigForMyBoots · 30/11/2022 21:34

thehorsehasnowbolted · 30/11/2022 21:31

Huh? People witnessed the offensive, racist exchange. The reason Lady SH isn't denying that it happened is because it did happen and others were there to witness it. Are you saying that the witnesses are lying?

TheKeatingFive · 30/11/2022 21:35

The 'perceptions' would already be determined (and posted all over Twitter) before the royals would have a chance to speak

Hang on, did we only 'perceive' those scenes in the Range Rover? They didn't actually happen? Is that what you're saying?

Who the hell was driving a range rover around a reception at Buckingham Palace?

LikeTearsInRain · 30/11/2022 21:36

Royals are awful. Honestly wish them some form of financial calamity, no taxpayer bailout and they end up living far more ordinary lives.

StoneofDestiny · 30/11/2022 21:37

That's your interpretation of perfectly standard activities during a diplomatic visit.
Your resentment and vindictiveness is showing here. It's quite worrying frankly

😂😂William and Kate openly expressed their displeasure at being so I'll advised (no doubt to distance themself from the fiasco).
