To ask you to rethink telling your children they're being watched 24/7 by Santa's spies?

If the elves come to your house just to mess around and have a laugh with no reporting back on behaviour to Santa, I'm not talking to you.

If you've got Elf CCTV cameras or are sending little notes from Santa with spying updates, I am.

It's just awful. Imagine if you genuinely believed your boss was spying on you 24/7 in your own home for a month every year and was going to deduct your pay if you behaved in an age-appropriate way.

We don't do surveillance, but it's simply an evolution of the Santa story, which is in turn an evolution of the Christian god narrative.

I never saw people getting worked up about that much.

@TheKeatingFive well Richard Dawkins is positively seething about it Grin Don't know his views on Santa though.

@SpideyCraw Thank you x

Santa can and elves that spy on you are just lazy parenting. People can’t be arsed to actually parent properly. It’s the same as saying “I’ll tell daddy when he comes home” or “wait til dad hears about that”. Just deal with your own children instead of threatening them with bollocks!

So pleased the elf wasn't a thing when my kids were little!

But Santa still brings their present for them now they're 25, 24 and 22. Everything is delivered once they've gone to bed on Christmas Eve (or rather just before they wake up on Christmas Day now they go to bed much later than Santa's helpers).
