To think that Adam White should have never been sent to prison and we're way too soft on career criminals!

I watched 24 Hours in Police Custody on catch up. A father and husband, a completely law abiding tax payer was chasing after two career criminals who had tried to burgle his garage, where he kept thousands of £ worth of tools he needed for work.

Adam White and the two thugs were in an RTC, the thugs were injured and Adam was sentenced to 22 months in prison for GBH. He lost his life savings, his job and his wife had an abortion because she wouldn't have been able to support a new baby and their two existing children whilst he was in prison.

The two thugs received community service...

Yes he probably shouldn't have chased after the thugs, but he didn't actually intend to harm anyone. Violent domestic abusers and career criminals seem to escape prison sentences all the time, yet a hardworking father had a custodial sentence to set an example.

I feel so sorry for Adam and his wife, especially since they had to make the heartbreaking decision to end her pregnancy due to all this.

As a father I would have done the same, however the reason why he was charged and prisoned is because the criminal's had left his property, Adam chose to chase after them when they was no longer posing a threat to him or his family, he drove dangerously and threatend life. He should have just stayed home with his family and get the police out.

What if the criminals come back and rob him again?

Armed men attempt to break into your home. Wether they steal anything or not. It is terrifying. If his wife was home alone with his child or the house was empty I'm sure there would have been a different outcome.
Adam the homeowner did cause serious injuries so he should have faced consequences but almost 2 years in prison was ridiculous. Considering all the circumstances. The sentences should have been reversed. 2 years suspended sentence and 200 hours community service for Adam.

At most Adam White should have been given a suspended sentence & a short driving ban, the two scum who from what people in the area said had been on a spree of burgling properties, vans & stealing cars & motorbikes should have been locked up & the key thrown away. Adam White lost his job, his baby & his life savings, what did those scum lose?

Nothing, they were rewarded with compensation.
