To think no one would read this book?

My best friend has borderline personality disorder. She thinks she is going to do well with a book with this title -

Borderline personality disorder: what I wish I knew - a female perspective

Please tell her no one will be interested. She is unknown also.

Why not? People read all sorts. And the title may change once she has actually written the content.

What an encouraging friend you are.

Randomness12 · 29/11/2022 19:33

I think you don’t sound like a very good friend…

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 29/11/2022 19:33

I'd potentially be interested - of course, it would depend on the content and the quality of the writing. I'd certainly look at the preview.

Lemevoir · 29/11/2022 19:34

I don't see anything wrong with the subject of the book or the title of it.

ryantubridysthumb · 29/11/2022 19:34

Sounds good to me.

weebarra · 29/11/2022 19:34

My sister lived and died with BPD/EUPD. I'd often have liked to hear her perspective on life.

Gigia · 29/11/2022 19:35

I would also be interested. You don't sound like a very supportive friend tbh.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 29/11/2022 19:35

I wouldn't be interested but I can imagine if I did have borderline personality disorder I would be. Any particular reason you're not supporting her ambition?

AccioChocolate · 29/11/2022 19:35

Reverse?
If it's not, you're a total penis

LateAF · 29/11/2022 19:36

Thinking about it, I reckon you are the “friend” and you’re doing market research in your target audience. Not a shabby plan.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 29/11/2022 19:36

Well I would read it.

Notavailablesadly · 29/11/2022 19:36

It's an interesting topic - some people definitely would read it.

Itstheimplication · 29/11/2022 19:36

@AccioChocolate your reply made me laugh.

there are so many books out there OP, people read all sorts. Why do you think no one would read it?

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 29/11/2022 19:37

Why is that a bad title? Does exactly what it says, would be a very interesting read and bring a lot of insight into the topic. You don’t sound supportive at all! Hoping this is a reverse

heldinadream · 29/11/2022 19:37

Well the subtitle should be 'What I wish I had known' because 'What I wish I knew' indicates that she doesn't know it now.
So pedant I may be but on that basis alone I would not expect it to be literate.

TabithaTittlemouse · 29/11/2022 19:37

I work in mh and would be interested. It’s important for people to hear about those with lived experience.

Are you the ‘friend’/author or are you just a really unsupportive friend?

SapphosRock · 29/11/2022 19:37

I'd totally read it. Mental health from a female perspective, what's not to love?

peycho · 29/11/2022 19:38

😉

OP posts:
HeliosPurple · 29/11/2022 19:39

I think it’s great. It’s factual and to the point. Just what you need when selecting a health based book. Anyway, it’s normally the publisher who has the final say.

pigsDOfly · 29/11/2022 19:40

Why do you think no one will want to read it?

There are a mass of self help type books out there and a great many people wanting to read them.

The title explains exactly what it's about so can't see the problem with the title.

Is she planning on self publishing, if not the issue will be if she's capable of actually writing a book that is interesting enough for people to want to read it and therefore, interesting enough to attract a publisher.

Wouldlovetobeinthesun · 29/11/2022 19:41

I'm assuming you're actually the author and wondering whether the title is enticing.

PurpleParrotfish · 29/11/2022 19:41

This is a reverse, isn’t it? ‘Friend’ is you…

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 29/11/2022 19:41

peycho · 29/11/2022 19:38

😉

Do we take this wink to mean you are in fact the author of this book? Well done on writing it, but honestly, it would have been better just to start a thread asking what people thought of the title and idea for your book.

dayswithaY · 29/11/2022 19:43

If you want to write a book, go ahead.

georgarina · 29/11/2022 19:43

Assuming this is a reverse
Go for it. You can change the title later if you want to.
