As above. We put the little bastard away on the evening of December 23rd last year, neither of us can remember where! Any ideas?!

@TeeBee I feel like he's definitely stashed with something like that, wrapping paper or something random that we don't actually keep out for Christmas

Do you have drawers in your bed base? That's where mine was last year. The year before at the very back of the wardrobe.

MistyFrequencies · 28/11/2022 19:07

@whereistheelf Not yet. The school one arrived today so the kids think ours will artive tonight. Hence my mad panic to find the little bastard.

whereistheelf · 28/11/2022 19:09

@MistyFrequencies 😂😂 I'm glad it's not just me!

@cardibach keep your judgement to yourself thank you. We had commitments last weekend, next weekend and the one after. So we put it up when it suited us to. Doesn't affect you.

Ok. No need for aggression. Though after the weekend after next is probably when mine will go up. Glad to see elsewhere you aren’t a ‘tear it all down on Boxing Day’ type.

In the box with Christmas decorations

Yep it's in there.

TeeBee · 28/11/2022 19:14

Any left-over Christmas wrapping paper, tags or crackers? Could be with them.
Any ottoman beds if could be under? Spare gift cupboard?

@MistyFrequencies has he arrived yet? Some of ds' friends elves arrived last weekend for the toy show. I can't be dealing with that, December 1st is soon enough😂

Ours arrived this morning to deliver my DS's birthday badge for school.

kidsandpuppies · 28/11/2022 19:16

He figured he had done his part, so he buggered off down to a nice villa in Spain.

whereistheelf · 28/11/2022 19:20

@cardibach sorry! I didn't mean to sound aggressive!! We always leave it up til the 6th. Most of my friends have theirs up too, my mam would put it up on Christmas Eve and take it down on Stephen's day if she could!

Some great suggestions here. Dh is just home. I shall send him searching. I HATE looking for things.

In with where you usually hide their birthday and/or Christmas presents? Ie somewhere you hope they wouldn't look?

MaverickSnoopy · 28/11/2022 19:26

This was us last year (hopefully not this year, DH says he knows exactly where the bugger is). Try looking in you'd underwear draw (that's where ours was, right at the back) or a bedroom cupboard.

Bluekerfuffle · 28/11/2022 19:29

I agree with PP, the bin. Someone in the family has a bit of sense and wanted rid of the creepy little bugger.

Shergill15 · 28/11/2022 19:29

Top of the wardrobe? That's where I eventually found ours after turning the house upside down! In with decorations/wrapping paper also a good call. Top of fridge/bookcase?

DuchessDandelion · 28/11/2022 19:34

He's run away to join a Privacy Activist group: Elves Unite Against Big Brother (EUABB)

neverbeenskiing · 28/11/2022 19:37

I found ours yesterday in one of the kids Christmas eve boxes. Previous years he's turned up in the bag where we keep the wrapping paper and bows and stuff.

HerReputationMadeItDifficultToProceed · 28/11/2022 19:41

This happened to us last year but didn't realise until evening of 29 November and I couldn't get one sent to me or locate one in a shop before 2 December. In a panic decided to write the kids a letter from "Boris Johnson" saying that the elf had covid and had to be quarantined for a few days before he could enter the country and included some covid tests for everyone to test themselves before the elf turned up. Went down a storm, better than if the elf had just come on December 1st. 10/10 would recommend, maybe even if you find your elf. Also it gave us a few nights off the little twat which we appreciated greatly.

VittysCardigan · 28/11/2022 19:42

A friend at work can't find hers so i suggested telling her daughter it's gone travelling & to screenshot all the posts from insta & show her 'his adventures'. Easy to find plenty & save to camera roll now, less chance of forgetting to sort the damn thing before bed too.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 28/11/2022 19:45

I sent my DH hunting last week as we’ve moved this year and still got things in boxs. Lucking he found them in an extra storage cupboard in the utility room.

whereistheelf · 28/11/2022 19:47

@HerReputationMadeItDifficultToProceed that's genius!!

OP posts:
whereistheelf · 28/11/2022 19:52

So our wardrobe is built in right up to the ceiling so definitely not on top of that, might be on the top shelf. We're going to investigate.
It's not in with any decorations or wrapping paper etc... not in the playroom, not in our bedside drawers, not in the en-suite(which I have storage in)
Not on top of kitchen cupboards
Not in kitchen cupboards
My head hurts thinking about the little shit and we haven't even contemplated what we'll do with him when we find him.

Apparently he's arriving by drone this year though...

HelenHywater · 28/11/2022 19:55

Mine's in my knicker drawer

But this was me this time last year, cue last minute purchase from Amazon, and now I have 2 elves! (I found the first one).
