Hot brownie and ice cream comes close though I admit.

I got so excited about it. I misspelled my name.

That made me laugh, I can completely understand getting so excited about pudding that you misspell your name, it's something I would do too!😁

My favourites are hot brownie/ chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream, warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream or black forest gateau.

It's tough for me between, apple crumble, sticky toffee pudding & chocholate fudge cake with actual runny fudge. All with ice cream of course.

QuestionsFromThePublic · 27/11/2022 23:09

I love Nigella's sticky toffee pudding recipe with black treacle. Super easy to make.

BestSelfBlah · 27/11/2022 23:11

YABU

Sherry Trifle is the pudding of puddings

TheDogsMother · 27/11/2022 23:12

Controversial but Tarte au Citron or anything lemon related is clearly the best pud.

Crikeyalmighty · 27/11/2022 23:13

I don't like it at all- prefer a nice trifle or profiteroles

inigomontoyahwillcox · 27/11/2022 23:19

I mean, warm chocolate brownie is the ultimate - with thick double cream (bloody hate ice cream, ruins a perfectly good pudding), but apple tarte tatin (again, with cream - clotted in this instance) is a close 2nd.

DH would agree with you though.

Luredbyapomegranate · 27/11/2022 23:22

Nah. STP and brownies are both very one note. Basically a shit ton of sugar. I don’t MIND that to be clear, but it’s not v interesting compared to a great quince and apple crumble or a bitter chocolate tart or a spiced plums and barbados cream or a syllabub or a chocolate ganache or.. I could go on..

Yes

Or a lemon posset..

TheDogsMother · 27/11/2022 23:26

@Luredbyapomegranate Yes it is ! I love a lemon posset or lemon syllabub. Divine.

YANBU but only if you’re talking about the one I make, specifically <bows modestly>

one of the best sticky toffee puddings is made in a village down the road from us.

Cartmel by any chance?

PurpleButterflyWings · 27/11/2022 23:32

Bleh no. Also, you should have put a poll.

TheStuckyToffeePudding · 28/11/2022 14:23

I'm going to have to add M&S cinnamon buns to the list after having one today. The ones in the little paper container.

TinkyWinkyRainbowHead · 28/11/2022 14:32

Oh my god, there’s just so much to choose from. Plus there’s the dilemma of whether you’re going for a bit of stodge or something a bit more fruity. If stodgy, I think bread and butter pudding with Sainsbury’s taste the difference custard 😋 😋 If fruity, I’m currently loving Bonne Maman Rhubarb mousse 😋 😋

CaveMum · 28/11/2022 14:40

@TheDogsMother if you love lemony things, try these - I’ve just made a batch! They are to die for and whenever I make them they disappear VERY quickly!

Also, for the bread and butter pudding fans I recommend James Martin’s Croissant Bread and Butter Pudding, made with white chocolate and whisky!

Oooh I'm obsessed by those little bone mamas treats. Small enough so guilt is a little alleviated. Love the coffee one. And the clementine.

STP is best if it's a little over done so it's almost chewy at the edges. Served luke warm with cold cream.

Crunchingleaf · 28/11/2022 14:55

I love a good sticky toffee pudding, but it can be such a major disappointment if you get it somewhere and it’s a dry bit of sponge with a tiny bit of toffee sauce.
Sometimes something like a crumble can be a safer bet.

Pwdin Eva (Welsh Apple Desert)

...the Welsh word for pudding is "Pwdin"? oh my god that's the cutest thing. Sticky toffee with custard, bread and butter pudding with custard, chocolate sponge with custard, rice pudding made with cream... love it all.

DilemmaDelilah · 28/11/2022 15:25

@dolor it has dates in it. The OK is BVVVU unreasonable to consider sticky toffee pudding edible let alone anywhere near the top 2000 puddings! Dates are the food of the devil. I make some excellent puddings, my bread and butter pudding is soft, light and lightly spiced, my apple crumble is delicious, tart and sweet and buttery, my chocolate mousse is rich and decadent. There are so many delicious puddings out there why have one with DATES in it!

LakieLady · 28/11/2022 15:35

BaileySharp · 27/11/2022 19:29

It's one of the best puddings but I am usually swayed by the chocolate option

Me too, but I'd go for both if they were both available.

They're winter puddings though. In summer I prefer something lighter, eg home-made raspberry mousse, or panna cotta.

Cigarettesaftersex1 · 28/11/2022 15:38

Apple Dorset cake with clotted cream
A decent vanilla panna cotta with blackberry compote
Eton mess

In that order. End of

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/11/2022 15:41

It's very hard to beat a classic chocolate mousse made with melted dark chocolate, egg yolks and whipped egg whites. Added brandy and/or orange flavour. Well chilled. Huge dollop of thick cold cream with it. But there are so many other worthy rivals ...

Spanielsarepainless · 28/11/2022 15:43

YABU. My Mum's golden syrup sponge with lashings of homemade custard is much better.
