To think Royal Mail workers should not be striking

Hitthehighseastoday · 27/11/2022 00:55

They’ve already been offered a 9% pay raise and declined. Royal Mail is already making a loss. It’s a national service for the public which is now being severely disrupted by strikes, it’s appalling.

don’t be ridiculous

You have no compassion you have said ‘put up or leave.’

wildpeaches · 27/11/2022 21:32

@Hitthehighseastoday what has 'backgrounds' got to do with anything? Do you think everyone in lower paid/ unskilled jobs are uneducated or from disadvantaged backgrounds? I'm not sure if you're being deliberately obtuse but you don't have compassion to everyone, you started a thread to slag off people striking for better pay and conditions. That isn't a show of compassion is it. Do you know what compassion means?

Italiandreams · 27/11/2022 21:35

Exactly @wildpeaches . Of course employers should not be allowed to just changes conditions and not expect staff to challenge them of if means they can no longer do the job. You think staff that have worked for a company for 20 years should just be forced out?

listsandbudgets · 27/11/2022 21:36

@Conkersareback I simply said the service was even worse during lockdown which is simply a statement of fact. Your reaction is somewhat OTT - I have no desire for them to be disciplined. Honestly... I think it was down to poor management anyway and continues to be. Your average postie gets the job done as per the instructions they receive (presumably)

Conkersareback · 27/11/2022 21:37

@Hitthehighseastoday it's not allowed that RM employees can negotiate and discuss the change, that the fact that the 9% has strings! It's agree or don't get it!

Why did not know why others don't think you're a nice person.......

Because you ihmotevvery thread aimed at you, but you've read and agreed with all the nasty posts aimed at me by @Lancrelady80 , which have been deleted and were personal attacks and nothing to do with the post!

You've also don't care about things that debt affect you!

So selfish!

It's was down to COVID! Like everything else in the world! It was down to sickness and many of the elderly/vulnerable posties dying of Covid, retiring early or shielding ffs!

Italiandreams · 27/11/2022 21:38

Of course the service was worse in lockdown, all services were worse in lockdown! There were less people available and they were doing extra services like delivering and collecting Covid tests! I really don’t think we should be criticising any posties for that!

For context; I grew up in foster care. As such, I have respect for everyone no matter what their background is. I have compassion for people of all backgrounds and I do not discriminate.

This has absolutely nothing to do with your argument. I'm not sure why you keep bringing it up.

Of course it was worse, don't you give any allowances!

What sector were you working in? Did you still
Have to work shoulder bun shoulder with your colleagues? Or did you have the option to be 2m apart? So therefore not disrupt your work?

Conkersareback · 27/11/2022 21:45

Apologies @Lancrelady80 that should've been @LucilleLou !

A poster a few pages back said people like me in “big” job’s apparently have no compassion with the average working man or woman and that we are cold hearted/mean, both of which are not true. That is why it is relevant

I have respect and compassion towards people of all backgrounds.

Ah well if you grew up in foster care, why didn’t you say! I’ll just ignore all the actual words and points of view you have expressed here!

DdraigGoch · 27/11/2022 21:50

MarshaBradyo · 27/11/2022 08:06

Heavily unionised, private sector and drop in demand makes it harder for a company to build demand atm

Other private companies will take the market and drive down sales

RM is up against it, rail has a drop in demand too

If rail has had a drop in demand then why did I see so many full and standing trains today?
