To feel disgusted with myself for just doing this

Itsfridayforgiveyourself · 25/11/2022 19:26

Went to a drive through before, ordered my Dd a happy meal and myself a Big Mac, Mcchicken sandwich, cheeseburger and coke. No idea why, just always wanted to order my favourite things and not do the meal thing. Generally always with Dh and would feel kind a pig in front of him.
I barely ever drink Coke either, literally only when I have a mcds or pizza, which doesn’t sound like it by this thread, but is pretty rare!
Whyyyyy 🙈it wasn’t even that bloody good, not like I imagined it 😫

Mirabai - so are we saying binge eaters and binge drinkers are on a par?

Mirabai · 26/11/2022 00:18

Bingeing is bingeing whatever the substance. I do sympathise with people dealing with addiction but I wouldn’t crow about it online personally.

BosaNova · 26/11/2022 00:21

Devoutspoken · 26/11/2022 00:08

Bosanova, very few people glass people after drinking

Well even less after eating Maccies...

Some people can kill fun thread faster than Ronald can cause clogged arteries

CressidaV · 26/11/2022 00:27

A little bit off thread, but on a trip went to a macdo recently and threw everything away as it tasted vile, nothing like the real thing. Does anyone know if it's a thing to pass non macdo crap as macdo crap?

Itsfridayforgiveyourself · 26/11/2022 00:29

@Mirabai I have no addictions and I’m not a binge eater

The reason I dont do this is because I learned my lesson a long time ago that the food I really fancy and can imagine eating NEVER tastes as I "remember" it tasting. I probably had one amazing Maccies once and then assumed every one since must surely taste the same.....and it doesnt. My sister and I once had a Maccies pig out during a very stressful family time and most of it was crap and landed in the bin.

Same with Indian or Chinese or Chippy takeaway or worst of all......a bacon sandwich. Terry Pratchett wrote about the Cabinet of Curiosities that always delivers a perfect specimen "......it was the bacon sandwich that you dream about when you hear the words Bacon Sandwich but never quite get". Its true!

So now although we do do Maccies, I have very low expectations and have the bare minimum to stave off hunger!

Lizzy1980 · 26/11/2022 00:44

YABVU OP………………..You didn’t have pudding 😃

Langpants · 26/11/2022 00:50

I had not one but two triple cheeseburgers from Maccies the other night - around 11pm! I’d only had a sandwich at brunch and was starving! I was full before I had finished the second one but ate it anyway. 🤣🤣🤣

thewolfandthesheep · 26/11/2022 02:28

If there's no apple pie, no need to drive through. I never get out of there without an apple pie.

The fact that the great Terry Pratchett was an author and not the deity in charge of creating our ACTUAL universe is deeply unfair.

There's something depressing about Burger King. Everything looks tired and the clientele are a bit more edgy. I agree though, the burgers are tastier and respect for the fact that they were way ahead of Mcdonalds with a plant based burger that actually tasted like a proper burger.

LynetteScavo · 26/11/2022 07:15

Good for you! One evening last week everyone else was out (DH was at the gym) so I ordered from
my local Chinese. I've lived here 15 years and never been before. There was enough food for two people and I ate it all. It was delicious. Definitely not my usual style. I felt quite wild Grin

AllOfThemWitches · 26/11/2022 07:33

Well, all I can say is I'm not remotely overweight and I could eat all that and probably not even be full for too long.

Iamboredandgoingforatwix · 26/11/2022 07:37

I'm not a fan of fast food chains, but went for a burger King recently for someone's birthday and was surprised at how nice it was, given that my OH had a horrid burger from them recently. Very greasy though and I could make better myself, but definitely better than McDonalads and KFC. They are pretty crap. It's a good job it was a drive away and I don't have a burger King in my town as I am tempted to have another one.

My FiL is in the irritating group of people who talks a lot about how he couldn't manage an adult portion/oats and blueberries fills him up all day/could manage a main and a pudding etc.

He also does the following:
a) eats food off my kids plates
b) pops and eats chocolate in his car
c) eats a huge McDonald's and spends the rest of the day boring is to death about how uncomfortably full he is.

He is also overweight but loves telling us how easy it is to loose weight.

He is irritating in a magnitude of other ways too.

Minimalme · 26/11/2022 09:28

Couldn't manage...Soz!

My mum is like that with eating.
She eats half portions but then there is also 5 snacks she later forgets exist 😁
When she was with me suddenly full meals were ok because she didn't want to go rummage around cupboards numerous times a day😂

BareGrylls · 26/11/2022 09:41

After reading all the replies I think these burgers must be smaller than I imagined. I used to take DC to MacDonalds when they were little but haven't been for years, perhaps they are aimed at children.

Minimalme · 26/11/2022 09:57

@BosaNova there was a hilarious/maddening thread on MN a few years ago about competitive under eating and it was an eye opener.

OP has treating this thread like a confessional "Bless me MN for I have sinned and eaten an unjustifiable fuck tonne of McDonalds..." Grin

My FiL also comments on how other people eat, my dh especially "That's a huge portion, I could never eat that...you really enjoy your food don't you?"

Unsurprisingly dh has had a mild eating disorder all his life.

BosaNova · 26/11/2022 10:36

I've just checked something.

So if you see someone in maccies with 3 burgers, you do "omg", but a burger, fries and milkshake are just normal meal.
Getting chicken one with large fries and medium milkshake is actually very close calorie wise to 3 burgers!

Op's burgers - 1.1k cal +212 coke
Big mac, large fries, cheesy dips 1.18 +212 coke.

One is acceptable because it's main, side, nobble, drink, while 3 mains coming to same are for some reason not. 😁
Soz for ruining maccies with calories

TeamHerbivore · 26/11/2022 10:41

The being disgusted at yourself and feeling like you can’t eat this in front of your husband is more concerning than what you’ve eaten.

SkylightSkylight · 26/11/2022 11:45

Whiskyvodka · 25/11/2022 20:05

This.

Sometimes I will taste my food, think no I won’t enjoy that and bin it because it’s a waste of calories.
Dh thinks I’m mad.
But I know I can eat something nicer later on.

I can understand your POV about what you put in your body, but at the same time it seems incredibly wasteful. Your DH is not doing his duty as a human dustbin. Most men would be happy to eat it cold or zapped later.

Devoutspoken · 26/11/2022 11:48

Op, that amount of food in one sitting is binge eating

I usually get a triple cheeseburger and a chicken nugget happy meal. Totally obsessed with the camembert cheese dippers though so will add these into the mix while they're on offer 😍

Hold on a cotton picking minute!!

what's this about McD's & dipping Camembert???

@Itsfridayforgiveyourself I'm vegetarian, so can't test out how I'd do on your order. But no point feeling guilty. If you're going to indulge then best to enjoy it!!
