Would you go out this soon after COVID?

Just want opinions really.
Started with COVID symptoms last Saturday. Tested positive on weds.
Have had to isolate from work due to the job I do though explained I was happy to go in as I now feel fine.
Due to go out with friends tomorrow night. Would you want to go out with someone who'd just had covid? Will it look bad if I'm seen by someone at work?

"Are we still supposed to ..."

Surely a considerate person wouldn't go out mixing with people until they tested negative and weren't displaying symptoms. (Of the acute disease, not a left-over cough that could go on for weeks.)

With Covid we can test to see if we have the virus in our noses/throats, but with most viruses, having acute symptoms suggests that we can pass on the infection and it would be a good idea to stay in and not spread it about.

Ie, common sense and courtesy rather than rule-following.

Sunshineguy · 26/11/2022 17:31

I know a few people with long term problems from Covid so I wouldn't knowingly spread this virus.

@Hummingbird11 I have! Let me say it's again for you

I know people where their OH and DC are covid positive, they have symptoms but are just saying "well I'm testing negative, so I can go out"? Only of course to test positive a few days later, unsurprisingly.*

Do you have comprehension issues? You don't think that test was inaccurate? Another friend had a cold as she tested negative, two days later positive, quell surprise. So off she went out and about with " I've got a cold", but that's on hers and people like yours conscience!

Yes I do have comprehension issues - I find it very hard to comprehend why when a person doesn’t agree with another person they think it is ok to be nasty, vulgar and insulting to them. University educated in English and history here so thank you for asking but no comprehension issues to answer to.
Well if you know people that tested positive after testing negative that of course makes the tests inaccurate!!! Not at all anything to do with them not testing properly! 🙄
This smacks of a conspiracy theory from the late 80’s early 90’s where people were spreading lies that condom manufacturers were obliged to put holes in one in every hundred condoms - people were so worried that the condoms were ineffective and stopped using them and in turn std’s and pregnancies were unnecessarily high.

Conkersareback · 26/11/2022 19:52

@Hummingbird11 I'm sorry you have comprehension issues, probably best you don't question people on forums, then question them again and again?

Is there anything you can do to deal with your comprehension issues?

The tests were carried out by people without comprehension issues, with common sense and therefore I believe carried out correctly.

Please do link that the tests are accurate 109% of the time.....

Conkersareback · 26/11/2022 19:53

@Hummingbird11 sorry I've now reread, your post says in the first sentence that you do have comprehension issues and you don't have comprehension issues!

Very confusing!

The irony 🤣

70billionthnamechange · 26/11/2022 21:10

I wouldn't even test and honestly not trying to be a twat, just didn't realise we still were. My kids keep getting coughs and if they seem ok I send them to school. This isn't ever going away, like ever, so I don't think we can pause life for it anymore

You're right!

Conkersareback · 26/11/2022 17:11

@thing47 sorry posted too soon! I disagree that the amount of false negatives are few, two out of two for people I know!

Sick, stay in!

That's anecdote not data. The percentage of false positives (not false negatives incidentally) is somewhere between 0.05% and 2.9%, depending on which of the many studies you look at.

So you can disagree all you like on a personal level, but the data shows what the data shows. Your personal anecdotes do nothing to disprove the stats.

LizTrusssPA · 27/11/2022 08:20

No one has been pausing life for over a year now (unless you work in a TV studio where those rules definitely do still apply). I mean the current Prime Minister and the former one Boris Johnson both got fined for not pausing life when everyone else had to aswell so it depends who you apply it to.

The FP nonsense was given traction by a crank who seen out the Pandemic from his covid controlled mask mandated safe haven in France. He's a hypocrite who's peers are now seriously concerned for his mental state with his recent more b@ts!t posts. (Oddly enough he never showed concerns for the false negatives with Omicron. I never tested positive on an LFT when I was riddled with covid and heavily symptomatic). Even Dolan from KBF had mask mandates on his own fleet of planes whilst encouraging people in the UK to ignore any mandates. My point is they are all hypocrites.

anyone who is a true believer in freedom of choice should have no qualms with what choices others make. Covid doesn't care if you test or won't test mask or vax it doesn't discriminate. If you're sick with anything at least have the decency to tell your friends you are meeting with so they can decide for themselves what risk they want to take.
