Impatient people at the petrol station

went To the petrol station this morning to fill up my car on my way to work.

I paid at the pump, put the fuel in my car and got back into my car again to drive off.

There was a woman in her car using the pumps behind me and she had finished filling her car and so was waiting for me to leave the forecourt to facilitate her exit as there was no room for her to get through until left as there were pumps on the other side which were being used.

I had got into my car, used some hand sanitiser and then switched on my engine to get ready to go.

As soon as I got into the car, she had driven her car from her pump right up to the tail end of my car as if to say hurry up in a really passive aggressive way - for context, I drove off within a minute of getting back into my car.

AIBU to think these people should just chill out and have some patience? It’s not like I was sitting there dithering for 5 minutes!

I don't rush for other people, I only rush for people who are paying for my time, ie. when I'm at work. The people who get pissed off waiting are the same people who won't use other pumps maybe because it's not their preferred side and they don't want to pull out the hose, or people that don't know how to manoeuvre their car to the pump in front of me that has become free in the time they've spent waiting for me - their problem not mine.

I recently pulled up at a forecourt behind a car with no visible human and assumed the driver was paying for their fuel in the kiosk.

After a few minutes and plenty of people exiting the kiosk and driving off, I was getting a bit impatient. Then a woman got out of the drivers seat and STARTED filling her car. I was so astonished by her thoughtlessness that I came close to needing an alibi.

The only thing that annoys me at petrol stations is people blocking the way by queueing for pumps that are on the same side as their fuel cap, despite the fact that hoses are long enough so you can fill up on either side of a pump. Baffles me, probably, rather than annoys me.

It's much easier to not have to stretch the hose, that's me every time and I would rather wait for an easy space to drive in to

@woodhill but it's not much easier. It's the same if you park properly. Regardless of car size.

I think it makes more sense to fill up on the side of your petrol cap, I'm happy to wait

I'll never understand people at petrol stations. She could have reversed and gone round. That's what I do. Also PSA - the pump reaches both sides. You don't have to wait for one on your side when other pumps are free.

Only if they say that they are the extra long ones. But my local petrol stations don't have those, so you do need to be on the right side.
