She should have throttled him to death and said it was a sex game gone wrong. Slap on the wrist for that.

Good point.

Although I suspect the rules around that would be very different if it was a woman doing the throttling

mommatoone · 24/11/2022 13:10

I totally stand by this lady and her actions.
The judicial system in this country is laughable. I have worked with sex offenders and some of them as in all walks of life are very manipulative. I mean, why did this guy change his name? Was it so he could live a peaceful life as no one knew who he really was,or was it so he could settle into a community and continue to reoffend. It seems the latter was his motive.
What about these grooming gangs in Rochdale? One of the guys was 50 and got a 13 year old pregnant and still lived in the area were he carried out his abuse. These kind of prople should never see the light of day again. Protect our children cos no one else will.

Thelnebriati · 24/11/2022 13:10

The problem is that we will never know for sure what he did or didn't do in relation to this accusation because he never came to trial

The problem is that men with convictions are allowed to obtain a new identity, erase their past, and evade DBS checks.

"Once they have changed their names, they are able to get a new driving licence and passport in that name," says Sarah Champion. "That enables them to get a new DBS check. And we are finding that these people are then going into schools and other places where there are children and vulnerable people and exploiting their positions of trust in the most horrific ways."

Peace of mind for her children who know they will never have to cross paths with him again. I would say thats worth it. Saving many more children from the same abuse. Thats worth it too.

He was 77, and his alleged offences were compounded by deceit. The strong likelihood is that he would have died in prison whilst these boys continued to have their mother at home with them. Wouldn't that a better way of saving children?

Dogtooth · 24/11/2022 13:13

Any parent would be devastated. I don't think any parent would pick up a knife, march around and stab someone.

Her kids have not only gone through abuse but lost their mum to prison for seven years, how is that in their best interests?

What if she'd got the wrong man?

What other criminal offences should give people carte blanche to kill the perpetrators?

Due process and the rule of law is the hallmark of civilisation, anyone would sympathise with this woman's distress but it's right she was punished for killing someone, even if he was a paedophile.

mommatoone · 24/11/2022 13:13

@LearnerCook . What a load of rubbish. The two are in no way comparable!

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 24/11/2022 13:14

Why is it a strong likelihood that he would have died in prison? He was 77, not 97.

Will be legal in Scotland soon for sex offenders to do this

the offender is meant to notify the authorities that they are sex offenders when they change their names and gender

that’s likely 🤷‍♀️

He had already done it over 20 times!! Why do you think this is the time he’ll be thrown in jail to ‘suffer’ for life as some people seem to be imagining?

For precisely that reason - he'd done it 20 times, and the offence (assuming he did it) was compounded by the element of deceit and planning that went into it. You can't justify murder by minimising or denying the reality of the sentencing process.

Emmelina · 24/11/2022 13:18

I don’t blame her.
The boys were with grandparents while she was inside, they involved her in every decision made still which I think is amazing.

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 24/11/2022 13:20

lagioconda why wasn’t he given life on any of the previous occasions then? I’m assuming plenty of deceit went into those. If you were familiar with the sentencing process, you’d know that it’s crap and fails to protect the most vulnerable.

Kanaloa · 24/11/2022 13:20

You think this time would be the kicker? Suddenly (after being bailed to live across the road from his victims) he’d be out to the full wrath of our justice system and kept in jail until he died? I’m glad you have such faith in our system that you think that.

Penguinsaregreat · 24/11/2022 11:32

She should not have gone to prison, it benefits nobody. A waste of public money. A suspended sentence would have surficed.
I don’t hold with all this you can’t take the law into your own hands. This government steal from us every single day and they aren’t subject to the laws of the land, they aren’t in prison. So that argument doesn’t hold with me. He got what he deserved.

The problem is that, because she prevented the trial going ahead, we will never know beyond reasonable doubt whether this man was guilty. There have been numerous known incidents of false accusations of paedophilia. Suppose, in exactly the same circumstances, this parent had killed a man who turned out to be totally innocent - say, your father, husband, brother or son. Would you still say that a suspended sentence was enough?

MissFancyDay · 24/11/2022 13:21

I hope that they never hold a referendum about bringing back the death penalty. If some posts on here are to be believed a majority would be for it. Including turning a blind eye to revenge stabbings and mutilations. I don't believe we should ever have the death penalty again, we are not a barbaric uncivilised society. All the work should be put into making sure that justice is served on these hideous men.

Those poor boys, their mother was not putting them first when she did what she did. They needed love, protection and safety. Not an absent mother in prison.

Kanaloa · 24/11/2022 13:22

I’m also presuming he was deceitful and planned out all the many many other times, and was given very short sentences and then released to do it again. Over and over. So not sure why you’re so sure this time would be the one where he would face real justice.

Also not sure why you keep implying there’s any possibility that this man was innocent of this crime. It’s an insult to his victims.

TheyCanAllGoFuckThemselves · 24/11/2022 11:34

At least those kids know she's got their back, even if she wasn't there for a bit.

Are you seriously saying they wouldn't have known she had got their back if she hadn't done this? That's just silly.

What Law same which helps, the likes of Saville???

This^
surely no one wants to live in a society where the biggest angriest person gets to appointment themselves judge, jury and executioner?

If they had already raped/sexually abused on more than twenty prior occasions. You keep missing this out and acting as if he was an innocent man wrongly accused. He was a known pedophile who changed his name to continue accessing children to abuse. The idea that these boys got together and formulated a lie that happened to focus on an actual pedophile who was still accessing children (but for totally innocent reasons of course) and falsely accused him is absolutely absurd.

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 24/11/2022 13:25

Would anyone like to place a bet on how long I’ll be left waiting for an answer to my posts? ‘12th of never’ is the odds on favourite currently.

Lollipop999 · 24/11/2022 13:25

FrancescaContini · 24/11/2022 09:01

This was the convicted paedophile who changed his name, got a new DBS certificate under his new name, gained access to children using new certificate and sexually abused the woman’s three sons under his new name - yes?

Regardless of what she did - the law’s a fucking ass and needs changing so this never happens again.

And good riddance to the nonce.

They should never be able to change their names under any circumstances, and should have to live with the consequences of their actions , looking over their shoulder all the time.

it’s shocking that they are allowed to change their name tbh.

GettinHyggeWithIt · 24/11/2022 13:26

i’m not sure her serving prison time was useful for anyone. Why not have her fitted with a tag and severely restrict movement (or something?) instead as punishment. people far more dangerous than her are on the streets.

I hope she and they can all rebuild their lives.

Janbohonut · 24/11/2022 13:27

I can imagine feeling murderous when confronted with a man that did that to my children.
The fact that he had so much access to children, that he had changed his name to access them, shows that the system is at fault. Pedophiles are conniving and cunning beyond anything normal people can imagine.
I hope she rebuilds her life as best she can. XXX

Soothsayer1 · 24/11/2022 13:27

At least those kids know she's got their back
might they also be thinking 'if we piss her off enough she might stab us', what if she gets into a rage and she can't help herself?
