Wish I earned more, but clearly my job is far less important than all these corporate/HR/Accountancy jobs...

But I suppose someone has to look after these people when they suffer from heart attacks from their incredibly important highly stressful and well paid jobs.

And this thread has made me feel very undervalued and inadequate for going into healthcare. Thanks OP, appreciate it!

How is it OP's fault that you're on the salary you're on.
You chose the career, not OP.
My husband is a nurse, pay similar to yours but gets satisfaction from his job having switched from a better paying IT job.

Fellow NHS here. You are absolutely valued by most people. Please do not let bullshit threads like this make you feel inferior! You're doing an amazing job.

I'll wait for this goady OP to congratulate you on everything you have achieved as well...

@ZellyFitzgerald I am really sorry if this thread made you feel bad! I respect and admire everyone that works at NHS and all I can say is a big Thank You! I am really sorry if this thread didn’t make you feel valued… It was honestly not my purpose, I was just curious of other people salaries as it’s a topic rarely discussed amongst women.

@fjäl I think you either need therapy or holidays! Please don’t be aggressive with people that you don’t know. Find something else to let off steam.

I won't be donating to your charity if most of my donation goes on your wages.

I don't expect charity workers to get paid a pittance, but this is taking the piss.

Just what I was thinking - which fookin charity?!!

Mitfordian · 20/11/2022 20:33

35, 75k plus bonus, financial services (not London). Hate every single second of it.

1 child, nearly 2.

RampantIvy · 20/11/2022 20:33

I'm 64 and work part time. I earn well below average, BUT, we are mortgage free, have solar panels that we bought so long ago that our FIT pays for most of our energy usage, no childcare required as DD has now left university, we don't owe any money to anyone.

My work life balance is perfect. I love my job, get on really well with my workmates (note workmates, not colleagues), am still happliy married and live a pretty stress free life.

I don't care that I don't have a 6 figure salary because I don't think it would buy what I have.

Don't be disingenuous. These threads are always put up under the guise of curiosity so people can boast.

And yes, I did choose my career, and thank god I did, especially after the last couple of years.

Magentax · 20/11/2022 20:34

43 - c125k (depends on bonus) - media

PLEASE remember one thing. Not everything you read on the internet is true, and MUCH of what's posted on forums like this is embellished, exaggerated, and sugar coated. Approx 80% of the claims on this type of thread are bullpoo, as are the salaries. Don't feel undervalued and inadequate, coz you're definitely NOT. Flowers

@FingersInTheBin exactly! I have to recruit freelancers in my role and I contact them and tell them the fee. Every woman accepts the fee and does the work. Every man asks for more on the fee.

I asked for a payrise this year and my boss said it wouldn't be possible and then added that she really needed to give my male colleague a pay rise first! Wtf?!

This is very interesting! One of my workstreams is like this, they send the job with a price eg £1.50 per line, £2 per line etc, and say ‘is that OK’. I’ve always said yes, and wondered if anyone says actually no, I’d like £2.50 per line! I bet the male freelancers do 😆

35 - Nurse - €57k

And I'll throw in my husbands details too...

35 - Accountant - 92k

GrinGrinGrin knew there would be one who told us what her husband earns...

Good ol' mumsnet. Never disappoints.

supertato32 · 20/11/2022 20:36

@HikingforScenery but he was on £185k he is, I assume, paid that much to make sure everyone in his department is doing their job! He should have been aware of this case and surely, if needs be visited the property himself! If that wasn't his role, then what is he paid a hell of a lot of money for! Sorry, but this story really upset me and pissed me off! Then I listened to a bunch of arseholes phone up LBC and blame it all on the poor father! (Sorry, so off topic)

MySerenity · 20/11/2022 20:36

Sure why not? Isn't the purpose to see real wages in different roles?

PurpleButterflyWings

Thank you, I appreciate that.

supertato32 · 20/11/2022 20:38

@runlittlemonster ask for more! The worst they can say is no! I work in publishing. I also freelance (as my job pays so badly)! I just accept the fee given too! But recently I've had a lot of freelancers pushing back on fees, so I'm thinking of doing the same!

So depressing. I'm 41 and in the past year have gone from 21k to 31k (public sector) via two very competitive promotions and a lot of hard work. I'm still really proud of myself but this does make me feel a bit shit.

Mamai90 · 20/11/2022 20:38

Pre kids it was £27,000

PayPennies · 20/11/2022 20:38
