Christmas Quandry

DH runs a joinery business and we live in a small town, not in the UK. We have a small holding with animals and a pretty nice life.

Earlier this year I became pregnant for the first time. It was quite unexpected but we’re both happy about it. I’m currently 8 months gone and due around Christmas.

Last week DH announced that we would be spending Christmas in his home town rather than here. It’s not to see his family, apparently it’s for some administrative reason that means the baby has to be registered there. I’m really unhappy about having to travel but accept that this is necessary.

Whats made me really annoyed is DH’s laid back attitude to planning for this. I asked him how we were getting there (we don’t have a car) and he just shrugged. When I pushed it he pointed to the donkey we have on the smallholding and laughed, which I hope was a joke. When I asked him about whether he’d booked a hotel, especially given the time of year, I got a similar response - he said we’d just try our luck when we arrived.

AIBU to say this is not really acceptable given the circumstances? I’m tempted
to just make the arrangements myself.

Yes- if someone was deliberately being unkind , i would tell them to stop being a bitch.

You just don't like being called out.

You clearly think you are reasonable and cant accept you overreacted so I'm not wasting any more energy on you. I hope you have the day you deserve.

Because with all of the bloody troll posts and zombie threads at the minute I am sick of clicking on pointless, time wasting threads. Its perfectly reasonable to state you find this annoying, what is not reasonable is calling someone a bitch and telling them to fuck off over it.

It’s not a zombie or troll thread 🤷‍♀️ It’s a joke one. There’s no rules against obvious joke threads. Try just scrolling by if it’s not for you.

Life is miserable at the moment for a lot of people, can’t we have a laugh here and there?

You too. Hope someone tries to make you feel the way you tried to make the op feel.

You can call someone out without swearing at them tho 🤷‍♀️ and why are you just laying into one poster? She wasnt even the first one to say they didnt find it funny

Spanielsarepainless · 19/11/2022 12:12

I'd go. You might get some interesting presents, such as gold, frankincense and myrrh. Tell DH to keep the shepherds away until the baby is wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. And get the angelic choir to bugger off, or you won't get any sleep, especially with that bloody great bright star shining over the stable.

Skelligsfeathers · 19/11/2022 12:13

And take loads of antibacterial wipes because you might end up giving birth somewhere not altogether hygienic.

7Worfs · 19/11/2022 12:17

My Christmas wish is for posters with no sense of humour to just click away to the ‘worthy’ threads about cost of living, cheating husbands and dodgy parking. 🙏

Silvers11 · 19/11/2022 12:21

😂😂😁Ha HA!! Very good

HuggsBosom · 19/11/2022 12:21

To be fair to OP, she did signal it was a joke with her username.

Well I didn't have...

Lots of Christmas spirit on this thread 😂

DappledThings · 19/11/2022 13:06

It's on par with a troll post to me.
Me too. And with the current state of zombies and trolls and zombie-bumping trolls and MNHQ deliberately trying to get people to bump zombies it's just really irritating.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/11/2022 13:20

For starters, you’re not married. And don’t let me get started on the ‘immaculate conception’. Grin

OP I think you should get advice from 3 wise men on this matter.

Would each preface their advice with "Man here..." 😉

Especially as the doctrine of immaculate conception is nothing to do with Jesus being conceived
