Yes I’m posting in Aibu because this is causing ww3 in my house currently.

yabu: 4 is plenty.
yanbu: 4 is a child portion.

I would say 4 with chips and peas or beans for a fully grown adult, but can see how a growing teen would be able to eat about 6.

Floralnomad · 17/11/2022 19:06

I only ever have them in a sandwich and then I have 4/5 depending on the size of the bread being used .

BertieBoots87 · 17/11/2022 19:06

2/3 for a child depending on age
3 for an adult
3/4 in a sandwich

My husband says you're fucking spot on and if he'd known this about me we wouldn't be married

Well you obviously eat more than your body needs so why be so judgemental about a relatively healthy food that others enjoy?

I can't stand posters who use terms like 'greedy' about something so subjective and such a non-issue.

Yes, they’re scoffing chocolates/sweets/etc after. Nobody gets fat if they have more than 3 fish fingers.

Moveoverdarlin · 17/11/2022 19:07

I’d give an adult at least 6, for their main evening meal. My dinky little 4 year daughter eats 4.

Wiccan · 17/11/2022 19:07

Me & DH like 5 each . We aren't overweight but are also massively piggy 😂

thesurrealist · 17/11/2022 19:07

As any as can fit on a buttered piece of bloomer

OhmygodDont · 17/11/2022 19:07

Part of his reasoning is a happy meal
is four nuggets so an adult portion would be double so if we convert to fingers 8 fingers. Haha

wondering100 · 17/11/2022 19:08

Literally 8 or 10 what is with the 2 fish finger thing!
My 1 year old eats two, are we talking about the Birdseye size fish finger?

2catsandhappy · 17/11/2022 19:09

4 is a child portion. 6-8 for an adult.

"Give a man a fish he eats for a day etc" So I expect to feed an adult a fish sized, plate of fish fingers.
I assume the fish to be held in two hands not wrangled off the end of some 250lb strain deep sea fishing line.
And I hope there is a massive salad with it.

Hoolahoophop · 17/11/2022 19:09

I'm calorie counting at the moment.

I had 4 standard birdseye fish fingers yesterday with 2 potato waffles and weirdly some m&s tarka dal. Came to 620 calories and 220 of those were the dal. I was neither hungry nor satisfyingly full. For me 4 is about right. Dp has 5.

2 would need some substantial sides to make it into a full meal for me.

TellerTuesday · 17/11/2022 19:10

Only on Mumsnet will you get someone declare they couldn't possibly eat more than 2 fish fingers..... honestly it's like another world.

I would inhale 2 possibly 3 whilst plating up!! DD (9) who has the appetite of sparrow eats 4 🤯

ThorsBedazzler · 17/11/2022 19:10

I have 3. Because when I have 4 the crumby coating gets my mouth dry. 3 isn't enough though.

Maybe I should have 4 and give a child the case for the 4th.

Proamble · 17/11/2022 19:10

i just can’t get over all the ‘beans’. Sounds disgusting!

grannyjacob · 17/11/2022 19:10

Standard sized - 5, with chips and beans. Or chips, mushy peas, beetroot.

AllOfThemWitches · 17/11/2022 18:23

You're asking the queens of competitive undereating...

4 fish fingers = 440 calories, 1/3 of a normal adult female caloric daily intake, I’d say you are overeating.
Unless you all work at the docks…

janbebe · 17/11/2022 19:10

atleast 15

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 17/11/2022 19:11

Gymrabbit · 17/11/2022 18:18

With chips and beans I’d have 3 and I’m both overweight and a bit piggy.

anymore is massively greedy.

Your slightly fucked up attitude is possibly why you’re fat.

Di you have good and bad food too?

CaptaNoctem · 17/11/2022 19:11

2 for me but they would be served with a full salad and chips.

ThePoshUns · 17/11/2022 19:11

4 is plenty

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 17/11/2022 19:12

I would LOVE a massive fish-sized plate of fish fingers, just for me... all neatly lined up.

TimBoothseyes · 17/11/2022 19:12

3 in a roll, 4 in a sandwich and 5 with chips and peas (I don't like beans).

MooFroo · 17/11/2022 19:12

6-8 for any self respecting adult 😊

ImNotDancing · 17/11/2022 19:13

Boooooot · 17/11/2022 18:21

I genuinely don’t believe a grown ass adult would only have two.

Mumsnetters love a competitive undereat! Surprised we’ve not had someone saying they can’t fathom how someone could eat more than half a fish finger
