Worried sick.....Poland

I'm so worried about this escalation with the missiles landing in Poland. Petrified in fact. Can anyone talk me down?. I'm so scared right now....

What are you scared for?

Newuser82 · 16/11/2022 09:22

I thought they had said the missile wasn't Russian? Either way it doesn't look like it was a deliberate attack on Poland so I'm not worrying.

londongals · 16/11/2022 09:22

Only worry about something that you can change
You cannot change this

What are you scared for?

Just scared of nuclear war.

sittingonacornflake · 16/11/2022 09:25

It looks like a mistake. Not deliberate. So it shouldn't escalate anything. Deep breath. Nothing has changed.

AuntieMarys · 16/11/2022 09:25

Well if it happens, it will be quick

Just scared of nuclear war.

It is not going to happen.

Greenshake · 16/11/2022 09:26

This won’t get out of hand. Already the attitude is far calmer than yesterday. Nobody in NATO has an appetite for war and we have come this far without it.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 16/11/2022 09:27

There isn't going to be a nuclear war. Go to the Ukraine Invasion thread number 35 to read informed and rational reasons as to why this will not escalate as you fear. The headlines are misleading and are crafted in a way to get your attention which is very irresponsible. Please try not to worry.

RoseMadderAsHell · 16/11/2022 09:31

Stay away from the mail's clickbait headlines.

lemmein · 16/11/2022 09:37

We've had so many 'end of civilisation' headlines over the last 5 years, frankly, I'm not arsed anymore.

No point stressing over something you can do nothing about and is unlikely to happen anyway - turn the news off, you'll instantly feel calmer.

Just scared of nuclear war.

“It is not going to happen.”

This. If Putin was going to escalate, he would have done so rather than pulling out of Kherson.

Moobae · 16/11/2022 09:39

Your so worried you post on mumsnet

Obviously for reassurance, which I'm always grateful for. Worried people do tend to come on here? I'm not quite under the bed yet.

What in earth makes you think there will be a nuclear war?

Honestly, think about this. Would NATO fire nuclear weapons first? No. Therefore you are worrying about Russia firing them. If Russia were going to fire nuclear weapons at NATO, why didn’t they just crack on
last night instead of titting around blowing up grain silos and giving NATO a heads up to get together and work out a response?

I think rational posts like this are very useful when someone is having anxiety over all this. It's hard to think rationally when you are panicking! OP, look for comfort in posts like this. But really, I would advise you to stay away from the news until it calms down 😊

Fenneloup · 16/11/2022 09:51

The missiles are being described as Ukrainian ones gone astray. Nuclear war is extremely unlikely and this incident makes it no more likely.
I suffer from anxiety too and the advice would be to distract with something you like till your levels go down as you won't be able to thin

MrsSkylerWhite · 16/11/2022 09:51

Remember how terrifying Saddam Hussain was? Until he wasn’t and found cowering in a hole in the ground.

All you're doing with this post is spreading anxiety and making others unhappy and irritated. Try and be a positive force in life.

Fenneloup · 16/11/2022 09:52

Able to think rationally in a heightened state

DomesticShortHair · 16/11/2022 09:52

I can’t help comparing the brave, stoic resilience of people in places like Kherson, with posts like this.

knittingaddict · 16/11/2022 09:56

It was all a bit scare mongering last night. In the cold light of day it looks like a simple error in a war environment. No one deliberately targeted Poland, so that's good. Terrible for the poor people who died of course. Ultimately Putin is still the one to blame even if it was an mistake by Ukranians.

Dotjones · 16/11/2022 09:56

Try not to worry about nuclear war. It's like worrying about climate change or terrorism, the fear of what might happen in the future damages your mental health today.

With a nuclear war it's likely to go one of two ways - either the Russians use a tactical nuke which will only affect a small area and the rest of the world gets scared and gives into Russian demands, or it will escalate into a full end-of-the-world scenario which will be over very quickly.

I've long thought that being directly underneath a nuclear bomb detonating is one of the best ways to go - instantaneous vaporization, I wouldn't know anything about it. No getting ill, no years of pain, just there one second and vanished the next.

The reassurances on here have really calmed me down. Hopefully anyone else that was worried will benefit too. The news makes people anxious and irritated, hardly me. So rather than me spreading it, I seem to have achieved the opposite?

I admire their stoic resilience too. Does that mean I shouldn't worry about ww3?
