Beachy waves
Docs (90% of the time)
Bootcut jeans
Over patterned dressers
Huge logos

I hate when you’re browsing a rail and see what looks like a nice simple top or dress and then it has THINGS on it. Random beads, crochet flowery bits or bits of lace, frills on the shoulders or halfway up the arms. Or a cut out bit somewhere. Or one of those ultra visible zips which look utterly crap at all times.

I don't like threads like this.

I declined to post on the interior design thread for exactly the same reason

I think it's poor to sneer at other people's style.

Concentrate on yourself. If you're that brilliant you don't need to tell yourself how shit everyone else is.

You did post though

FlissyPaps · 15/11/2022 23:29

Mom/baggy/flared jeans.
Bowler hats.
Berets.
Pearls.
Long cardigans. The shabbier the worse.
Shoulder pads in jackets/blazers.
Loafers.

FlissyPaps · 15/11/2022 23:31

Also the people complaining about this thread are definitely the ones with awful style and are upset their favourites have been mentioned on here. Soz.

RobertaFirmino · 15/11/2022 23:35

Couldn't give a toss really, if I don't like it, I won't buy it. Problem solved.

cardibach · 15/11/2022 20:54

I’m really sorry you all hate DMs. As a woman with size 10 feet and hyper mobility which requires orthotics/arch support I can really only comfortably wear DMs (or Birkenstock sandals in summer). Fortunately I think they are pretty iconic and can’t see why anyone wouldn’t like them.

@cardibach

I really like docs, but need arch support and never find Them comfortable. Do you wear a particular style?

Borgonzola · 15/11/2022 23:37

Denim jackets

Cold shoulder tops

Square jumpers - short and wide

ShinyMe · 15/11/2022 21:33

I used to have a colleague who was very VERY vocal about what she thought clothes should be like. She was of the very strong opinion that no woman over 14 should wear clothing with cartoon characters or writing on, knickers should be black, white or red, (only red if you were going on a date), lots of items were for children only (like dungarees) and that all shoes should either be high heels, or diamante flip flops, and that everything in December should be covered in glitter. She also said that adults should only ever wear black socks.
I used to love wearing things like neon dalek t shirts, and stripy cat socks and things like that, just to piss her off.

Fabulous 🤣🤣🤣

Puffalicious · 16/11/2022 00:11

Honeynutcheerios · 15/11/2022 21:40

I would also never say it in person but this is an anonymous thread asking specifically and I’m entitled to my opinion jsut as you are (and you have expressed yours). Your comment re infantilising for saying dungarees are for children is the same as me saying you are slut shaming women for wanting to wear low cut tops- it’s a nonsensical argument.

Don't put words into my mouth, I did not and would never say anything about a woman's morality based on what she wears. You can piss right off with putting that at my door. I said I think it looks shit, nothing there that indicates slut-shaming. A bit gas-lighty there.

GettingStuffed · 16/11/2022 00:16

Mini dresses which barely cover your knickers.

MrsSkylerWhite · 16/11/2022 00:18

Jeans with tears/rough hems. Crocs. Blouses/jumpers longer at the back than the front.

@StuntPineapples what the fuck is wrong with you?

The bigger the hoop the bigger the ho'??

You clearly hate your own sex.

That's a terrible thing to say

You should be ashamed of yourself.

You're a bad woman.

malificent7 · 16/11/2022 04:09

I love a few things on this list: DMs, Sequins, animal print are great.

I love dungarees unless they look too primary school.

WiddlinDiddlin · 16/11/2022 04:37

Theres stuff on here I love..

Bootcut jeans, DM's... fabulous!

I've thought of a few more things I reallllllllllllly don't like..

Peplum frill thingies. Not a proper frill, just.. like a rubbish pelmet for the bottom of a top. They flatter no one and are generally seen on loose fitting stuff that just looks blargh.

Sack dresses - those things that just have no fucking shape or are designed to make anyone wearing them look as ugly as possible. I think Victoria Beckham wore a leather (or pleather, who knows) one in a nasty shade of brown once.

FAKE FUCKING POCKETS. Just.. no, ok, no pockets at all if having them would spoil the fit, but fake pockets are just shit. Real pockets or no pockets at all.

Ugg boots... not the boots themselves, I neither like nor dislike, but the way some people wear them with their foot slid over a bit so they're treading on some of the side of the boot rather than the sole. Makes my teeth itch.

To balance this though, I dress like a bag of shit. A literal bag of shit. I buy my gear from Fat Fuckers R Us, a mens shop that caters for 25billion XL sizes and currently I am sporting lounge pants, a camo print gilet and a tshirt advertising some sort of motorcycle brand only available in the US.

The only time I went to a wedding as an adult I wore a very very frilly Joe Browns frock.. with a pair of New Rock boots. Zero fucks given. Wear what you like people, but be comfortable!

Why are you apologising? Weird.. I only hate DMs when they aren’t styled properly or people wear them because they think it makes them “unique”

They suit my friends style and she looks amazing.

Why do you think everyone should like DMs?

MsMiaWallace · 16/11/2022 08:27

Sorry but I love my crocs, DMs & Uggs!

Genuine Uggs don't have that slouchy pigeon foot look.

I don't like those long puffer gilet coats. Not sure the point?

LoveAngelLove · 16/11/2022 08:38

Generally stuff you can buy easily on the high street so it's easy for people to be wearing the same things.

I'd prefer to wear an alternative to the current obsession with those awful New Balance trainers I see everywhere.

Pottedpalm · 16/11/2022 08:50

I don’t consider leggings alone to be outer wear. I don't want to see your lardy arse in front of me on an escalator, or your crotch area. Fitness type leggings on the way to the gym, fine. These tend to be a more substantial fabric and the wearers tend to be slimmer. Otherwise no; thin leggings are essentially tights.

Well said, @FlamencoDance! There is no point at all being offended by this thread. If any of us tried to put together an outfit, avoiding anything mentioned here, we'd be left with very little choice. A pair of straight-legged jeans, a white t-shirt, and a pair of loafers maybe. Oh no, wait... I don't like loafers...

shinynewapple22 · 16/11/2022 09:28

Oh - another one - the current trend for adding pockets within the side seam of dresses . I know we all want pockets - and great manufacturers have listened - but when you are a short-arse like me the pockets come halfway down my thighs and give a very strange shape . So many dresses I've had to return recently .

Meanwhile - I love dresses/tunics with leggings and ankle boots ! Also skinny jeans . I don't care if they've gone out of fashion - they are comfy and I think they look nice.
