Hard agree on bootcut jeans and DMs

plus

99% of what Phoebe Buffay wore in Friends

You'd love me. I'm Phoebe 2.1 😂

cardibach · 15/11/2022 20:54

I’m really sorry you all hate DMs. As a woman with size 10 feet and hyper mobility which requires orthotics/arch support I can really only comfortably wear DMs (or Birkenstock sandals in summer). Fortunately I think they are pretty iconic and can’t see why anyone wouldn’t like them.

OoooohMatron · 15/11/2022 20:55

EastCoker · 15/11/2022 20:23

But @OoooohMatron you wouldn't be seen dead in a crop-top, not because you're 43, but because You feel that crop tops are not for you any more.

Yes true. If I had the bod I'd wear one!

CountZacular · 15/11/2022 20:57

I’d wear most of the items on here, but I have no fashion sense.

I hate dungarees - the more shapeless, the worse they are (looking at you Lucy & Yak).

motleymop · 15/11/2022 21:00

Dungarees would be OK if anywhere sold flattering ones- they're all really horrible shapes IMO, and could be done so much better.

Somethingsnappy · 15/11/2022 21:01

EastCoker · 15/11/2022 20:15

No.

Other people's choices don't worry me.

I certainly don't wear wooden dresses. I'm not Aunt Sally.

Why would me not enjoying a pile-on make you think you'd hit a nerve?

I just think these threads always encourage small-minded bollockry.

You have absolutely no idea hiw I dress. I bet you couldn't even guess.

I think my post went over your head...

Honeynutcheerios · 15/11/2022 21:02

Dungarees are for children

HintofVintagePink · 15/11/2022 21:04

Women that dress like children
Teenagers that dressed like they’re oppressed
Too tight anything.

Pretty sure it didn't.

StickySnotBalls · 15/11/2022 21:11

Little House On The Prairie dresses
Stilettos
Biker jackets with arm tassels
Handbags that don't close securely
Dresses that show the zip at the back as a 'detail'
Any fleece that has a animal face printed on it
Bat wings
Christmas jumpers
Clothes/shoes/bags that have company name plastered all over it it -very tacky, next etc
Other than that I've never given it much thought Grin

Manasprey · 15/11/2022 21:12

Frills. You find a nice dress, whatever, then you find frills.
Cropped stuff. Did it the 90s. Felt cold then.
Jumpers that look warm and toasty but LIE.😡

Not everyone hates them! I wear nothing but my docs really (I have some merrell walking boots too, but otherwise it's docs all year round, for everything). I often get compliments on them, and I genuinely don't care of people think they're ugly. My feet are comfy, that's what counts for me.

GreyTS · 15/11/2022 21:16

There are loads of things that I hate in myself, puffy sleeves, cold shoulders, anything frilly or flouncy. On others, couldn't give a fuck, wear what you like and what you think looks good on you. Would love to see photographs of the most critical posters, how stylish or fashionable are you? Surely it's better to take risks fashion wise and get it wrong than us all looking like tasteful clones of each other 🤔

TheOnlyBeeInYourBonnet · 15/11/2022 21:19

I don't want to trash the choices of others but I personally can't get on board with wide trousers or bootcuts. They add too much bulk to my frame and I hate the flapping.

antelopevalley · 15/11/2022 21:20

People who dress safe all the time - the classics look. It is so boring. Live a little.

Puffalicious · 15/11/2022 21:22

PixellatedPixie · 15/11/2022 20:49

@Puffalicious i love adult women wearing dungarees.
evey woman I know who wear them is cool and interesting but also down to earth. My sister asked who my neighbour was at a party and wanted to meet her just based on the fact that said neighbour was wearing dungarees!

Yeah! I think I'm cool (I'm a trainer wearer mainly) and interesting, also clever and funny and kind. That's the shit that really matters.

I'm not the kind of woman who dresses as I'm expected to/ for others. I'm in a professional job, so after hours I do MY style. I love rocking a bright lippy with said dungas and trainers.

My very best friends are classic Boden and Cos dressers respectively, we don't give two hoots how each other dresses. I have another wonderful friend who wears twin-sets and pearls; yet another who's never out of running gear and fleeces. Vive la difference I say.

Not true. I have fitted Levis ones, and 2 new pairs from Cherrypicks- very different and I loves them.

Ah - I have never seen these. I'll have a look.

IsThePopeCatholic · 15/11/2022 21:26

Body suits
thongs
high heels under trousers
animal print clothes
tiered dresses
logos on clothes

Honeynutcheerios · 15/11/2022 21:02

I happen to think low cut anything looks shit- would never say it, because it's a woman's choice. Have whatever opinion you like, but stop infantilising a woman's choice.

Highly recommend. I'm in love with my new black denim, slightly cropped and come in a little at the ankle- very flattering. My sister asked if I'd lost weight - result.

ShinyMe · 15/11/2022 21:33

I used to have a colleague who was very VERY vocal about what she thought clothes should be like. She was of the very strong opinion that no woman over 14 should wear clothing with cartoon characters or writing on, knickers should be black, white or red, (only red if you were going on a date), lots of items were for children only (like dungarees) and that all shoes should either be high heels, or diamante flip flops, and that everything in December should be covered in glitter. She also said that adults should only ever wear black socks.
I used to love wearing things like neon dalek t shirts, and stripy cat socks and things like that, just to piss her off.

I don't. I've asked DH for a black patent pair for Christmas. I had 2 pairs when I was a teen, black and cherry red and I threw them out. So annoyed with myself as my feet haven't grown.

Somethingsnappy · 15/11/2022 21:37

EastCoker · 15/11/2022 21:07

It was a light-hearted post that was making a little joke about the fact someone wrote 'dresser' instead of 'dresses' early in the thread. I don't actually think the thread has hit a nerve because you wear wooden dressers. I'm sure you wear much more tasteful and comfortable clothes than that.

Honeynutcheerios · 15/11/2022 21:40

I would also never say it in person but this is an anonymous thread asking specifically and I’m entitled to my opinion jsut as you are (and you have expressed yours). Your comment re infantilising for saying dungarees are for children is the same as me saying you are slut shaming women for wanting to wear low cut tops- it’s a nonsensical argument.
