Do you pay attention to your neighbours parcels/take aways

I do get a lot of parcels delivered as I don't drive and often they are split into multiple orders. But nothing crazy like daily orders etc. I get my shopping delivered too.

Do neighbours pay attention to this?

I rarely ever get take aways but a neighbour commented on me getting one

I do have a few neighbours in the street who don't work and seem to watch the street slot

Why would anyone bother?

vodkaredbullgirl · 15/11/2022 15:47

I go through their recycling box to see what they had.

allthecrooksandnannies · 15/11/2022 15:47

I feel jealous when they’re having takeaway and I’m not

Chasingsquirrels · 15/11/2022 15:47

No

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 15/11/2022 15:47

God, no, I couldn't care less. I've enough to do keeping track of myself without watching other people!

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 15/11/2022 15:48

I don’t usually, but today I did move a parcel as it was chucking it down and an idiotic delivery driver had just left it on the pavement in front of a house I walk past to get to mine.

Floweryflora · 15/11/2022 15:49

No, that would be sad and weird.

ToastAndJames · 15/11/2022 15:49

It's crazy to get things delivered daily?

Cwcwbird · 15/11/2022 15:54

Nope. But I work full time and have kids so I don't have time to curtain twitch. Deliveries are so normal now though, they're hardly worth noticing or remarking on surely?

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 15/11/2022 15:54

Yes. We have the same house number as they live in a gated community opposite and we're "on street". Deliveroo etc can never get it right so our door bell rings multiple times a week/day. McDonalds for breakfast anyone?

I can't wait until their two boys (and their legion of hungry friends) move out.

Brogues · 15/11/2022 15:54

Well a huge parcel was left all day on my doorstep last week so I’d imagine most of the neighbours wondered about it.

StickySnotBalls · 15/11/2022 15:55

No, I wouldn't notice

twoso · 15/11/2022 15:55

@ToastAndJames I mean I couldn't afford too haha. Unless it's small Amazon things

I do, but only because the bloody delivery van parks outside my house/window - sometimes multiple times a day. 🤷‍♀️
3 cars, 2 parents and 19yo drive, also 20yo and a young teen.
One WFH a couple of days and in the office the rest, the others very much p/t.

LexMitior · 15/11/2022 15:57

No but interestingly the delivery or postie guy may do.

Too many deliveries and can be a sign of financial issues or compulsive spending according to one postie! He reckoned that a lot of parcels received during the day were hidden from partners or were part of debt problems also being hidden.

upgrade to a ring doorbell or similar so you can use it as an intercom and send deliveries away?

PickAgain · 15/11/2022 16:00

Only that, when an Amazon van pulls up, I’m mentally wondering what I’ve bought that is due to be delivered that day.

My home shopping is delivered too.
It’s never occurred to me to wonder what the neighbours think though.
I don’t get out much due to chronic conditions so I’m more bothered by them thinking I’m odd for hardly leaving the house tbh.

Me too. I couldn't work up the energy to walk over to the window if I heard a delivery van, I really couldn't care. I do have a neighbour who monitors everyone so if I needed to know I'd just ask her.

TomTraubertsBlues · 15/11/2022 16:03

No, because I have a life!

Are these neighbours retired by any chance?

PuttingDownRoots · 15/11/2022 16:05

My neighbour noticed a delivery company had left a large parcel on our doorstep and took it in our house. Confused me until DH checked the camera footage (and they popped round to deliver it later).

But generally... why would I notice?

twoso · 15/11/2022 16:06

@TomTraubertsBlues no they both don't work. Report me for silly things like storing cardboard neatly in between my bins because it was too full. I think they will report me for some kind of fraud getting parcels etc.

I certainly notice the houses near me who have a lot of Amazon deliveries because the vans always park in stupid places and leave the engines running. I think the people opposite myst buy absolutely everything from Amazon - one at a time.
Takeaways I only notice if the delivery driver drives a loud car (which seems to be quite a few of them).

Sorry, but this is a load of shit. You cannot tell anything by when someone receives their deliveries.

Stuff I order might arrive during the day, but I don't get any control over that when I order.

And getting lots of deliveries can just as likely be a sign of having plenty of disposable income.

Fairislefandango · 15/11/2022 16:06

I have never ever noticed what my neighbours get delivered, unless they are having a new kitchen installed etc and there's a bloody great lorry outside delivering the stuff. As for takeaway, I'm not sure anywhere delivers to our village (fairly rural area) - people tend to drive to get takeaway, so I wouldn't know. We seem to have constant Amazon deliveries and I don't know or care if our neighbours notice!

username8888 · 15/11/2022 16:06

The only reason I know about my neighbours parcels is they're always being left at my house as they're not home. Otherwise zero interest
