How could this have happened?! Trigger warning - child / animal neglect

I don't usually post links to articles - please delete if not allowed.

This made me so angry and upset. How and why can this happen??

This couple claimed 7k per month in benefits yet seriously neglected 7 children and 36 dogs. This is disgraceful. One child had to have all their teeth removed under general anaesthetic as they were so decayed. Another child discouraged from attending school and made to look after the others. A child found covered in animal faeces next to a deceased dog. Utterly heartbreaking and absolutely infuriating at the same time.

I don't know what I'm posting for, I'm just upset and angry. Why did this happen? They can't exactly claim poverty on 7k per month, so why were these children not provided for?? Are they just selfish / evil people?!

Eh? So we just cant even discuss it?

What are you talking about? So what if they were on benefits? Why does that mean people shouldn't be (rightly) outraged by what they have done?

there has been a thread on this case already.... and it turned into a load of ableist crap saying that people on benefits should have regular checks to see if they are spending their money correctly.. but under the guise of checking vulnerable kids.

jonesy1999 · 13/11/2022 19:58

@XenoBitch well £7k per month is too much, surely?

What benefits could a family be entitled to that gives them £7k per month?

That’s great but how are the children doing? Some of them appear to still have been living with their mother?

Yes she is now, but a few months ago she claimed on her social media that her eldest has just moved out?

Her fb is interesting as there's not a single dog pic, and the pics of the house mid 2021 look fine

Rosieisposy · 13/11/2022 20:01

I think that there are probably a lot of families like this, living on the margins of society and not on anyones radar.

Comedycook · 13/11/2022 20:02

So upsetting and horrible to read. Just cannot comprehend it all

ljs22 · 13/11/2022 20:02

@gottachangeforthisone

are the children OK?? Are they together or split up? 😥

Yes I thought so too. The police officers described it as an awful stench when they went in, so much so they couldn't breathe properly.

But they would have had to have a truck load of evidence that each one of those children were disabled and/or them. They dont just take your word for it!

Crossback · 13/11/2022 19:43

Her fb profile is open (was last week anyway)
interesting to see how she portrays/portrayed her life and her kids

I just had a quick scan of her Facebook profile too.

I know people only post what they want others to see etc, but it's still very jarring how normal it all looks. Not a hint of 35 dogs etc and she seems very interested in her kids.

I don't understand, what do you mean?

Were they abusing benefits or not?

Were they breeding the dogs? Thats the only reason I could think of for a person having so many. I also wondered if they were, if thats why their income was so much.

ChickenBurgers · 13/11/2022 20:06

I don’t understand the judges comments, he said they’d of gotten a combined sentence of 8 years had they gone to trial and that he’d give 25% off their sentences for pleading guilty. How does that translate to 18 weeks custody each, one of which is suspended? Beyond belief. Those poor kids.

Saying that I have read on here about posters receiving Dla for a child, without a diagnosis before.

ldontWanna · 13/11/2022 20:18

Some people suck and shouldn't be responsible for a pet rock, much less actual pets, or worse, children.

misssunshine4040 · 13/11/2022 20:18

@gottachangeforthisone shouldn't passing a single comment on this situation if they indeed worked on the case.
Can't even believe that needs saying.

I don't know why some people live the way they live, it's unthinkable
