reborn dolls

Apologies if there's been a thread on this already but has anyone seen this reborn doll stuff on tiktok? Also don't flame me for this it's just for a chat and some understanding

There's a girl on there who bases her life around her "babies" but they are dolls. She posts hauls of stuff she's bought for them, forever showing us the sleepsuits, mittens, dummies, hats, bibs, bottles, the lot, and doing "day in the lifes" of her being being a full time mum with naps and feeding and crying and day trips out and I can't get my head around the way she spends all her money on babies that aren't real

The biggest problem that she is being called out for a lot is her use of formula, she buys tubs of formula, makes bottles with them and she's called out for taking formula away from the real babies that rely on it, and she also uses breast milk bags, which I hear are in short supply

Another reason she's not very popular is she's claiming that her doctor has given her medication to induce lactation, which I'm sure would never happen, there is no reason to do this, she doesn't have kids she is not pregnant so I'm sure it wouldn't be true

I know reborn dolls are useful and help people mentally when it comes to baby losses, don't get me wrong I have personally lost two babies this year so I understand the need to maybe replace the loss with a doll, however I don't see how this can't be a big mental issue, in her mind she is a mum, she has children, surely this is not normal

I really just can't get my head around it

I'm not bashing anyone and I'm not stretching anything, just going off what I've seen online/TikTok

Neither of us know this girl personally

But you can't be ok with her blatantly wasting specialist formula when there is a global shortage of the stuff

Regardless of her issues/mental state/whatever, it's still wrong

Not please, calm down and have a biscuit or something, you seem unnaturally rattled

I'm baffled at your need to lie about somebody you've never met to villainise them.

You haven't been able to answer why you lied so I will continue to believe it's because you quite enjoy being part of a righteous mob.

Your implication that I am upset or otherwise emotional because you have been caught out is fairly standard and utterly transparent so don't bother.

She definitely likes old, creepy, men

It's old creepy men that like vulnerable young women.

Fair play

CourtneeLuv · 22/11/2022 13:18

No one said she buys up ALL of the tins. No one could possibly do that and its pedantic and ridiculous to say that that is what people are saying. Not to mention distracting from the real topic of conversation.

People are saying she shouldn't be buying multiple tins of specialist formula when there is a world shortage of the stuff.

Allegedly she posts videos of hauls around 3 times per week showing off her tins of formula that shes just bought - regularly buying allergy formula - then makes it up, fucks about with breast milk bags, which are also becoming scarce apparently before tipping it down the sink.

Why are you trying to detract from the actual issue here?

Changeyncchange · 22/11/2022 13:23

No one said she buys up ALL of the tins

Yes they did.

She doesn't

fucks about with breast milk bags

Yep, she does that.

Why are you trying to detract from the actual issue here?

What fucking issue?

That one girl once bought 2 tubs of allergy milk and some milk bags? So fucking what?

Do you actually believe that this 18 year old is impacting on shortages?

What are you planning to do about this super serious "issue" I am "detracting" from?

Get a fucking grip.

CourtneeLuv · 22/11/2022 14:30

She didn't do it just once. She had multiple videos up the other day, showing her hauls of multiple tins.

It looks like she's deleted them now.

She didn't. I looked at all her videos when this kicked off which was a couple of weeks ago. She had a couple with milk they were mostly clothes.

It's incredibly convenient that all these terrible things she has done are now lost despite the fact so much has been recorded and saved.

Also even if she did. Even of she bought, say 20 tins of formula over 6 weeks.... what does that matter? How much does that impact milk shortages? How much abuse is enough before you decide shes been punished enough?

FooFighter99 · 22/11/2022 15:15

For all we know, the tins are empty and she's doing it all for the likes/comments/people's reactions.

In the video I saw, she produced 2 tins of formula from 2 differently branded carrier bags (i.e. Asda and Wilkos) and in a separate video, she has blatantly stated she would take the last tin off the shelf over a parent who needed it for a real baby.

Regardless of her motive, she's wrong. It's wasteful to make up formula, pretend to feed it to a doll, then pour it down the sink. It's frankly a disgusting waste of resources.

You might think she isn't harming anyone @Changeyncchange but how do you know? How do you know there isn't a baby in A&E in her town at this very moment because their parent is unable to procure their specialist formula because this silly girl is using it for her dolls?

I'm not inciting a witch hunt, the girl has done that all by herself by posting her content on the internet. I'm also not perpetuating the witch hunt by commenting on an anonymous forum on said internet.

Her issues are obviously wide-ranging and complex (because what she's doing is so far from normal) but there's not a lot we can do about it, is there. But what's wrong with discussing it here?

Changeyncchange · 22/11/2022 15:23

@FooFighter99

More lies and speculation.

Discuss it all you want. That's what I am doing. I find the reaction and the insane hyperbole to justify the frothing mob more interesting than the girl herself.

The consensus seems to be she is troubled.
Troubled person actly oddly is hardly worthy of discussion.

Supposedly rational adult women demonising a troubled person, lying about them and creating hypothetical starving babies to justify it is fascinating to me. I would love to understand the motivation.

Bleachmycloths · 22/11/2022 15:56

Such a sad story. I’d like to ask what is obviously a rhetorical question: does having this doll help or exacerbate her emotional state?

She doesn't. She is asked the question with poor sound and is distracted. She answers "no, no I wouldn't do that". I think it's much more likely she misheard and is answering that she wouldn't take the formula from the mum as its a very unnatural way of answering that question but makes perfect snese if she misheard. At the very least it's debatable. It's certainly not her "blatantly stating" it.

Looks like we'll have to agree to disagree then

Indeed. You enjoy your frothing. I'll enjoy observing y'all. Its better than the zoo.

@Changeyncchange

Bizarre? Really.
She needs outside help. She's is extremely vulnerable, she lives in a caravan, she is now with another older man, the first one was her uncle. I feel extremely sorry for her. So yes, if I could find out her details, I would contact SS.

Sorry. I was a bit of an arse earlier.

I agree with your sentiment but I can promise you ss won't care.

Fenneloup · 22/11/2022 17:27

I have a reborn orangutan.

tiddlywinks2 · 22/11/2022 17:32

@Changeyncchange it's absolutely fine. We all have moments like that. ❤️

What do you need to get your head around? You suspect she is unwell. What more is there you want to get your head around?

This.

I know what tiktoker you mean.

She gets up at 6am saying the baby wakes her, makes a bottle with the perfect prep machine and then changes babies nappy, clothes, etc and then heads out with pram and change bag for the day.

I can understand people having a reborn to help with their loss. What I can't understand is why she buys and makes up formula. It seems very extreme but then I've not walked in a mile in her shoes.

Now who's making stuff up and speculating?

She clearly says she wouldn't give the mother the tin.

No she doesn't. It's literally not clear. The audio is broken up.

I gave a completely factual account with my own opinion and reasoning. Even if she did say hear the question and said she would... well that's all. She said something. In the, incredibly unlikely event that scenario took place maybe she would do it maybe she wouldn't. We already established she lies.

If you want to bully a teenager you do you but stop trying to justify it. It's pathetic.

surreygirl1987 · 22/11/2022 20:19

Well, she is clearly unwell. Don't you feel sorry for her?

MRSDoos · 22/11/2022 20:24

It doesn’t bother me what other people do, as long as it isn’t affecting others

I totally do not agree with people using formula for their reborn dolls!

I have heard that some people use them if they have been told they are infertile, have lost children, pregnancy losses etc

I wouldn’t begrudge anyone with a reborn doll and it doesn’t bother me that someone on TikTok wants to wake up at 6am to see to her doll (I think I know what girl you mean)

Also additional needs/substance dependency where they know they can never look after a real baby/would have a baby removed by ss/would have a baby born with FASD etc etc

i really hate the hate around them :(

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 22/11/2022 20:47

@Changeyncchange the issue is she says a lot of things on her Lives which you then can't go back and find, she definitely said on one of her Lives last week that if there was one tub of Kendamil left and another mother wanted it she would still take it. Then on another she said she was no longer buying it as she was pumping it instead which is obviously better although the pump she showed off had clearly never been used and she's definitely not been given a prescription to aid lactation. Seeing her lie about that must be pretty horrible for women who are genuinely struggling to BF and could do with it.
