AIBU re toilet roll

Notatoilettroll · 12/11/2022 20:00

I buy my loo roll from Who Gives a Crap so I have worked out from my orders that I use on average on loo roll every fortnight.

According to Google the average person uses 100 rolls a year. AIBU to think that this statistic is wrong and I am normal?

I just buy it when we need it.

singleone · 12/11/2022 20:03

The average person or average household?

Almost 2 rolls a week for one person seems ridiculously high. I don't really tally what I'm using but I'm more inclined to agree with one a fortnight

hugznotdrugz · 12/11/2022 20:03

I wonder if the average statistics is household rather then person?

motleymop · 12/11/2022 20:05

God, I get through LOADS. At the moment a roll about every two days I think. In my defence, I am pregnant, have a weak bladder anyway, and am at home all day.

cliffdiver · 12/11/2022 20:05

We're a family of 4 and use a roll a day(!), so 100 rolls each a year seems fairly accurate.

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 12/11/2022 20:06

Depends if they also buy tissues and kitchen roll or not.

Mummieslncorporated · 12/11/2022 20:06

I use just less than one a week.

But not all toilet rolls are the same.

Sparklesocks · 12/11/2022 20:07

Are the who gives a crap rolls longer/bigger than a typical roll? So that might affect your experiment

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 12/11/2022 20:07

Also hemorrhoids/rectocelles cause issues that can require loads of loo roll.

Notatoilettroll · 12/11/2022 20:07

Statistics are definitely per person

XenoBitch · 12/11/2022 20:08

I love alone and get through a roll every 2 to 3 days. I am a scruncher, not a folder, and I am pretty sure that uses more.
I was also brought up on being only allowed to use 2 squares for each loo visit, so as an adult I am using whatever I want!

MoveBitch · 12/11/2022 20:08

Do you understand how averages work?
Personally 1 roll wouldn't last me 2 weeks, especially if I was having a heavy period

DotBall · 12/11/2022 20:08

I use about two a week.

9 a week here family of 4, but that does include a teenage boy so ………….😬🤢

YesItIsI · 12/11/2022 20:09

DH can get through almost a roll a day. I have absolutely no idea what he does with it. And little do I want to find out!

luxxlisbon · 12/11/2022 20:09

Well me and DH definitely don’t get through 4 a week and I can’t imagine we are the outliers. I wouldn’t say that’s an accurate statistic.

CyberSecMum · 12/11/2022 20:09

Which country/ies were the stats from? Some very populous countries don't use loo roll they use water and wash clean.

parrotonthesofa · 12/11/2022 20:10

We use a pack of 4 compact rolls a week
for a four person family but those compact rolls are apparently worth two normal ones so we use shit loads then. Pardon thé pun.

Notatoilettroll · 12/11/2022 20:10

I didn’t realise that WGAC are bigger rolls so that will affect my usage!

OP posts:
monsteronahill · 12/11/2022 20:11

Ooo we definitely go through ridiculous amounts - I think 20 or 24 a month for two people, so more than two a week each. But we WFH lots so at home more, and I'm a scruncher!

Trudij123 · 12/11/2022 20:12

I had a box and a half of who gives a crap two and a half years ago - I’ve given about ten/fifteen rolls away during lockdown and I bought one pack of sainsburys extra long when I thought I’d run out, my last still wrapped roll is going to be started probably mid next week, that’s me and a DD ( who isn’t shy about using it for everything !!) plus various visitors,

100 a year sounds quite a lot to me, but WGAC is longer lasting than an average roll, so maybe it’s not far wrong.

parrotonthesofa · 12/11/2022 20:13

I used to go out on a Saturday night. Now I spend it at home enthusiastically chatting to strangers on the internet about my toilet roll usage. What has happened? Grin

Actually when I said that I use one a fortnight, that was worked out on an average from everyone in the household.

Im sure we should be higher than normal with me with endometriosis, partner with IBS and a teenaged boy.

OP, did you know that Sainsbury's sell recycled toilet paper that's made in this country and wrapped in paper?
