To think the public should stop voting for matt Hancock to do every trial

Hdaniels11 · 12/11/2022 16:15

Aren't the public getting bored of constantly seeing him do the trials? I would understand if he was funny to watch whilst doing it but he just gets on with it! Every trial he has done he has brought all the stars back to camp and didn't seem phased at all while doing the eating trial with Boy George.
It will be terribly boring if he continues to do one every day. It also makes it a very easy ride for the rest of the campmates, not one of them have done a trial at all it's ridiculous.

I'm amused at watching Chris Moyles pretending he's relieved not to be nominated for a trial. I think he thought he was the big cheese in there this year

For someone who has made sexist and homophobic remarks on his radio show, not to mention his horrific bullying of Nicola Robert’s and creepy AF offer to take a teenage girl’s virginity, he’s awful pious and judgmental about MH’s actions.

ilyx · 13/11/2022 01:10

Also we have to remember he was held for 15 hours then only managed to get away as he escaped by breaking the radiator he was chained to and fled!! George did not voluntarily let him go! So he could have been held captive for weeks/months. This is such a serious crime and the poor guy probably has lifelong ptsd after something like that.

Of course MH is coming across well as that was what he went in there for - to show his human side, in his own words, and get everyone to like him. It’s not difficult to put on a show of being nice for a few weeks when that’s your sole aim. It doesn’t mean that’s the real him or that he’s a nice person.

I think that's far from true. I'd guess most contestants would go in there thinking they're going to show only a good side, but it's impossible to keep that up 24/7. The climate is hard to live in, the beds are uncomfortable, it's boring and tedious, the food is basic and not great. The feel lonely and exposed. Of course, they all want to be thought of as nice but it's impossible for them not to be snappy and argumentative when they're tired, irrutable, bored and missing home. That's just being human. And you can bet the production team will grab all those moments and it will be out of proportion to the actual incident. We know that from what's happened in previous years.
But if he comes across as agreeable and good-humoured, there's every likelihood that's because he is.

But that's my point.

He's being - rightly - held to account for that by campmates.

Campmates where all but 4 from what I know have done similar.

And he didn't make final decisions about care homes and hospitals. He didn't give the medical advice informing those decisions.

And Johnson was on holiday a few weeks ago when not on recess.

I don't disagree he's made awful decisions - but I don't think the hipocracy or holding one to account and not all is right.

Not just here but in life in general.

MH was made the fall guy for the governments mistakes but he was part of that I have no sympathy for him

but he isn’t a dislikable character and it wouldn’t surprise me if he is in the finale

CM is a horrible bully always has been he is very nasty and it didn’t take long to show

This.

I've been highly critical of current Tory government and more so and more so for the past few years.

Even in pandemic I always said there was something likeable about MH and he seemed the most genuine - adultery aside.

He was definitely used as a scapegoat to distract from another Johnson cock up. Doesn't mean he didn't do something wrong and didn't make mistakes in the pandemic.

I just don't think the image he was given in the media is the entire him and can understand why he wanted to present a different him.

Time will tell if this is an act or not.

Personally I like Jill and Baba, Owen and Scarlette. I think they are the only ones with a decent unshady past who have nothing to prove.

I like Mike too but he has fines for driving so has no right to say anything to MH either - though I'm not sure he has?

Sparklingbrook · 13/11/2022 07:31

I was looking forward to this but have given up watching now it’s the MH Show.

WordtoYoMumma · 13/11/2022 07:36

It was inevitable wasn't it? When I heard that he'd be going in I thought right well that's ruined then, for obvious reasons as well as the fact that he will just get voted for each trial and it'll get boring. Now he is in, he is so dull to watch and the trials are just boring.

Can't see I'll stick with it this time unless Hancock goes soon.

I am not bored of Matt Hancock having horrible experiences. I want him to keep doing every trial until he starts to be worn down by it. Imagine how smug he will be if he stops being voted and believes the public are forgiving him.

He’ll never get worn down by the trials though. He enjoys them and it probably energises him rather than wears him down. He’s that type!
so you will be waiting a long time
I’m enjoying all the media Matt Hancock enemies desperately trying to throw shade at him and it just bouncing off him. BBC 4 this morning reporting that his local vicar not happy with him 😁
my theory is that the media themselves are responsible for a lot of the restrictions as they demanded them day after day and they are hoping the public do not notice.

Matt Hancock was always the government minister that was wheeled out to do the worst TV interviews, eg after Brexit and during the pandemic. He clearly enjoys putting himself in the firing line and couldn't care less about doing the trials so long as he gets some public exposure.

Why do posters think it’s because the public hate him they are voting for him to do the trials? I’ve seen comments that suggest people like him and want him to win.

Exactly what he hopes. Unfortunate that he won't be fading into obscurity as he deserves.

twelly · 12/11/2022 23:28

I think that MH is coming across well, I am not a tory voter and am critical of the lockdowns but have nothing against him. I feel he's coming across as quite a genuine person. Some of the others in the jungle in my view are not coming across at all well. I would like to think the public will soon move in the way they view MH

You know what they say: the great thing is sincerity. Once you can fake that, you've got it made.

(To leave Planet Earth for a minute, I don't suppose I'm the only one who suspects Mr Hancock is not fazed by eating insects and unfashionable parts of other creatures because he already does it at home. Just call him Renfield.)

Brigante9 · 12/11/2022 23:15

Bless Owen, saying he wanted to do the eating trial because he’s hungry! I think I’d have eaten the tacos in one gulp, ditto the churros!

We watched it and couldn't understand why they didn't eat the nice stuff on the plate as well? Maybe it's not real? Or they're not allowed? I was saying they should have taken a handful of tortilla chips

Tory MP = cunt

to many on MN

Can't work out if you mean all Tory MPs are cunts or this is what a swathe of MNers think?
Either way Matt Hancock is a cunt if you vote Tory or Labour. For these reasons:
1 His handling of PPE for frontline staff (claimed later that they had adequate PPE when didn't as well, also gave them a 1% payrise,)

  1. lied to the PM about a promise to test patients discharged from hospital for covid before entering the care home system – lead to the deaths of 32,154 people in care homes in the first quarter of 2021
  2. Gave his neighbour the contract for test and trace that didn't work.
  3. Told us all to social distance (many people not with their family as they died including children) yet actually shagged someone out side his family
  4. Left his family publicly and immediately moved in with his mistress. His poor kids.

Not all Tory's are cunts. But he is.

Wouldn't it send a better message to him and the other so-called 'celebrities' if no-one watched this drivel at all?

I quite like watching it. There's been a lot of people on MN over the last few weeks moaning about it then claiming they don't watch Grin
I don't think they need a message sending, it's a popular show.

Queenofthebrae · 13/11/2022 08:59

I've thought for a few series now that there should be a basic rule that once you do a trial you should be exempt from the next one. At least that way it's giving others a chance and it's not so repetitive.

Haha at local vicar I heard that too. Everyone wants in on the act 😂

I’d put a lot in the media too, but also general public demand on the back of that

FiveMins · 13/11/2022 09:05

@MarshaBradyo the public aren't fucked off with him because of lockdowns. But because he made the lockdown rules then broke them unrepentantly.

But he has repented. He resigned! And the women he had an affair with was a colleague unlike Neil Ferguson for example- who also resigned. Yes you could argue he broke 2 meter distancing in the workplace like most people still working but equally you could argue they were clearly in a relationship so 2 meter distancing didn’t apply. Yes you could argue he shouldn’t have been in that relationship in the first place and yes I would agree but it wasn’t against any covid rules not to have relationships with colleagues. And round and round we go.
I’m on his wife and kids side and I think his biggest crime so far is telling us all he was in love which is very hurtful for his wife and kids to hear as presumably he was in love with his wife!

I’m sure some are. Not all public, I couldn’t care less about that - more annoyed re damage they caused

Anyway I’m sure ITV is appreciating the outrage as people watch, vote him each time and keep talking about the show. All good for the viewing figures

vera99 · 13/11/2022 09:22

I'm on the point of stopping watching - if it's not like The Hunger Games then it loses my vote - he had certainly rehabilitated his dodgy character though in certain eyes. There is no justice in the world sadly.

FORGIVE ME....

Sparklingbrook · 13/11/2022 09:42

I'm sure in previous series they sent a couple off to go and stay in a cage in the jungle or whatever, or some of them would win some proper luxury. It's been a bit meh the first week. It needs livening up a bit.

ReneBumsWombats · 13/11/2022 10:10

Is there any chance that it's boring because it's been running for 21 years with the same formula, which has always relied on humiliation, disgust, schadenfreude and a cast of people who aren't currently of great interest to the public even when you've heard of them?

Sparklingbrook · 13/11/2022 10:11

It's boring because nothing much is happening. But I feel the same way about Strictly, that needs a proper shake up.
