If someone leaves a pen in their pocket and the pen goes through the wash, leaks and turns the white load blue spotty, who’s fault is it?

A) pen owner who left pen in pocket and put in wash basket

b) person doing washing for not checking pockets??

Thanks

No such thing as a boring washing question.

I blame the person who left it in the pocket. Emptying pockets is part of putting things in the washing basket, not putting things in the machine.

PinkSyCo · 12/11/2022 08:58

It’s A’s fault. It’s much easier for each individual person to check their pockets before putting dirty clothes in washing basket than it is for the person doing the washing to have to check every single pocket.

Rainbowqueeen · 12/11/2022 08:58

A.

A always person A unless the person in question is under. 5

The pen leaver

Person doing the washing is dealing with sorting & washing several loads for various people & isn't going to check all those pockets for cash/tissues/pens/random crap

Definitely A. It's not tricky to check your pockets before you put things in the wash basket. Says me who is always washing chewing gum packets

No such thing as a boring washing question.

A, but in this house B checks anyway, knowing A won’t.

CornishGem1975 · 12/11/2022 09:09

A) and everyone in my house knows it. It's bad enough I get the job of washing everyone's clothes, I'm not about to start checking their pockets too.

NewYorkLassie · 12/11/2022 09:10

A. But A is always a dick about washing and B should have realised after all these years and checked anyway.

definitely As fault but I bet B is kicking themselves.

SheWoreYellow · 12/11/2022 09:11

Depends what the ‘rule’ is in your house. In mine I don’t check pockets, but I thought I was slack in that.

Ffsmakeitstop · 12/11/2022 09:13

Definitely A.

EscapeRoomToTheSun · 12/11/2022 09:16

Your husband is a twat. Stop doing his washing, person B.

Sandysandwich · 12/11/2022 09:17

Its always the pen owners fault unless the pen owner did not put the item in the washing basket- then it would become the washers fault.

As your pen owner put the clothes down for the wash- there would be no reason for the washer to check them. In the basket=ready to go in the wash.

Oysterbabe · 12/11/2022 09:18

Person A. I don't have time to dick around checking pockets. If it's in the wash basket it gets shoved in.

PinkiOcelot · 12/11/2022 09:20

A

Lulu1919 · 12/11/2022 09:23

Person who left pen in pocket
Much easier for those putting clothes in the wash bit to check ..rather than person emptying washing basket to go through all the dirty clothes !!

Outsideworld · 12/11/2022 09:23

A of course

JuneOsborne · 12/11/2022 09:24

I’m going to go against the grain here, but…

A and B are both responsible.
A should empty their own pockets, B should do the check, to be sure A has emptied the pockets.

Jules912 · 12/11/2022 09:35

A unless A is a young child ( although I would expect anyone old enough to have a pen in their pocket to check),

I’m now interested in how , if at all possible, you can get the ink out of the white wash.
