If someone leaves a pen in their pocket and the pen goes through the wash, leaks and turns the white load blue spotty, who’s fault is it?

A) pen owner who left pen in pocket and put in wash basket

b) person doing washing for not checking pockets??

Thanks

I bet B is kicking off and not at all apologetic

Person A
I tell everyone (mine are older) if they don't empty their pockets then any money is mine. Mostly they don't like that idea and check. I still have a little jar in the laundry room with about £20 in currently, though!

@tanstaafl
Yes me too!

If anyone has any foolproof methods of removing blue polka dot ink from white shirts please feel free to share!

Person A is blaming person B for not checking!

Person A will be doing all the washing from now on if they think it's person Bs fault! Hmm

Definitely the pen owners fault.

And as a penance ( sorry couldn't resist) the pen owners should be doing the washing for the foreseeable future.
With person B occasionally 'forgetting ' to take tissue out of their pocket.

MangoBiscuit · 12/11/2022 10:07

If you put it INTO the laundry basket, you're saying it's ready for the wash. So you should have checked the pockets.

If you've left it on a chair, or the floor, then the person who picks it up should check.

So A should have checked before putting it in the basket. They're being a dick trying to blame B, and should apologise.

bloodyeverlastinghell · 12/11/2022 10:13

A is at fault. A should also be ducking grateful they get their laundry done at all. Resentful B over here obviously.

BMW6 · 12/11/2022 10:19

A.

And if they argue that B should have checked then A gets to do all the washing henceforth

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 12/11/2022 10:26

A is at fault

Whatatimetobealivetoday · 12/11/2022 10:29

The pen leaver is to blame at the source of the problem. The washer could have helped by double checking but it’s still not on them.

Great idea!

We constantly have the same issue with screws. Our system is, if it's already in the basket, it's the person's who put it in the basket. If it's dirty but not yet in the basket, it's the person's who picked it up to do the laundry.

notmyrealmoniker · 12/11/2022 11:28

A unless A is a child under 10. Adults should check pockets before putting them in the laundry bin

Curlygirl06 · 12/11/2022 13:33

Person A is at fault. If they don't accept that and apologize, henceforth they do their own washing!

RBKB · 12/11/2022 13:38

Everyone loves a washing thread. And definitely A

TimeForMeToF1y · 12/11/2022 13:38

I hope you're going to show him all the responses, posters with no dog in the fight all agree it's his fault.
