4y/o taken to see Head

I have a 4 year old daughter.

She's generally a lovely child, but like other small children has her moments.

She started Reception in September and we had glowing reports from her first term. Kind, friendly, helpful and ahead of her peers academically.

So I'm a bit confused as to why this week she's been sent to the Heads office three times. For reason's including not listening and hiding under a table.

While I can see that this is annoying for the teachers. There are two in her class. It does feel a rather heavy-handed response.

I'm quite put out tbh and have requested a meeting with her teachers.

AIBU to think taking a Reception age child to the Head is excessive given the slight bad behaviour

I’m laughing at some of the reactions on here. You can tell the parents who think going to the HT automatically means the utter worst! Some smaller schools have hands on HT because they can be. It doesn’t mean OP’s DD is an awful child, it could just mean that they do things slightly differently. OP should just ask what the policy is if she can’t find it on the school website and perhaps clarify if they think there’s an alternative issue. It’s an over reaction to decide the school overreacted when there’s been absolutely no conversation about it.

It depends on the head. Sometimes, going to the head can mean getting an absolute beasting,

I don't believe that any Head of a primary school would behave this way, especially to a 4 year old.

My DS was in a similar position (later diagnosed with ADHD) and was sent to HT for drawing on the table (at 4) - the teacher simply couldn't cope with boys (yep, really) and DS (and many other boys) spent a lot of time with HT. DS really enjoyed this time with him, he was lovely.
