yes this is a TAAT technically but surely when 15 year old posts get revived there should be something in place (other than the this is an old thread message)

@User438651209 it's being done by a very persistent troll. There's no coincidence about it.

I’ve noticed a few OTT thread derailments by posters to make threads unusable that have a whiff of the posting style of the bison/water troll (see, eg the Jennifer Aniston thread). But I’m not sure if I am being over suspicious.

It’s the same or similar format names across several threads (I don’t normally notice stuff like this so it must be blatant enough to stick in my memory!).

Surely it would have been deleted as people have obviously reported it, it was started yesterday about 7pm and is still going now

@User438651209 MNHQ have been on the case for the last few days deleting and banning - but this troll is determined and keeps re-registering. Generally in the evening and through into the small hours.

Looks their agenda is simply to create havoc, so it will put people off from posting. (As well as giving MNHQ a major headache!)

I put up a thread last night that was quickly deleted, I think it was because I named the troll in the title, but I was a teeny weeny bit tipsy and I was getting annoyed at posts from 2007 and some from 2012 too, seems they like those particular years.

Once threads are reactivated and showing in "active" it is very easy to be caught out and post without looking at the dates. I just wish MN would lock old threads over X number of years old

Yes @ChocHotolate, and not helped by the fact that (on the desktop site at least) there's no longer a column showing the date that the thread was started. So the only date you see is on a post itself, which is easily missed.

The bison ones were in relation to the recent successful birth of a baby bison 'in the wild' ... in Kent, inside a big fence. The posts were faux concern about bisons trampling through towns or something hyperbolic of that sort.

The 'water' ones were about water quality and some very silly stuff about the government vaccinating us via car catalytic converters.
Daft, but at least they took time for the troll to type so the volume wasn't too overwhelming.

Was just about to say this, if they keep it up long enough posters will stop logging on and go elsewhere. It's making the site very unusable because you take your time to write a reply on a thread only to find its 15 feckin years old.

I think this is exactly the troll's intention. This isn't someone just trolling 'for fun' - I think this is a more serious, probably co-ordinated, type of 'attack'. With the aim of seriously disrupting the site, and making MNHQ have to work really hard!

Exactly! I suspect its a group of people, not just one random person with too much time on their hands. It's been going on for days now.
