To ask my neighbour to take down Christmas decorations from my garden?

I came home and saw that my neighbours had decorated their house ready for Christmas.

They had put one of their Christmas decorations on my garden without checking with me first. They seemed annoyed when I (very politely) asked them to put it on their own driveway instead.

So, was I being unreasonable? It was very close to the boundary, so I thought about letting it go, but it's a long time until Christmas!

I am sick of Christmas in November. It spoils it for people who put their decs up at a more reasonable date. I think it's all to do with instant gratification - the 'I want it and I want it now' culture. These are the same people who take down their decorations on Boxing Day. I am particularly triggered by an ex-colleague who always tells everyone on Facebook that her decorations are down on Boxing Day and she's done with Christmas. Her decs are always up ridiculously early because she's so excited. I am ranting here because i am so triggered - i get so passive aggressive that I am tempted to post on FB that mine go up on Christmas Eve and come down on Twelfth Night, but I have to exercise some self control and resist the urge and maintain some dignity. While I'm at it why are there sales on Boxing Day? it's all wrong. There are a lot of US Service people locally and some have already had their decs up for a few days, possibly for Thanksgiving. We don't want to see them yet. Wait, even though it's hard. God knows how the kids can contain their excitement when the decs are up for weeks before Christmas. Elf on the Shelf is wrong wrong wrong too. Rant over.

OP It bothers you, so I'm guessing it isn't subtle, he's causing a nuisance or damage to your garden in some way.

You asked them to remove it
If they don't , remove it yourself and lay it on their lawn
