About 15years ago, we had an influx of new lorry drivers. One of my colleagues really fancied one of them, and it was obvious it wasn’t one way traffic!!
Another of my colleagues, who is now part-time retired, was a bingo fan, got all of us to join the local Bingo Hall, she filled in the forms - took a copy of our driving licences - and went in to bingo hall and did it.
On the following Monday, about 30 of us, including the most important two, went to the “Monday Lunch Bingo”. It was £2.00 including a cup of tea, went on for a few hours, I was instructed to bring a flask of tea, and a loaf of cheese sandwiches, some were instructed to buy little party sausage rolls and cook them, one lady bought in onion bhajis, some bought a box or two of Mr Kiplings!
The idea was to all mix and mingle, have a laugh, each took phone numbers so we could do this again,
I actually made a new friend that day, I still go to that reading club, and my colleague and new lorry driver arranged and went to see a film together, because it was easy too, on the Thursday Lunchtime, and yes they are together still.
it was such a different environment from the pub, when you are dabbing your numbers you actually do go like primary school kids, get very giggly and touchy, especially if the tables are small!
Good Luck, I hope in your work environment, there is a lovely lady who knows that Bingo will bring people together form lasting friendships and occasionally make a fantastic relationship.
it’s still something that I do with my colleagues, once a month, probably 70 or 80 turn up most times, it’s really weird because it’s lovely seeing your colleagues dressed up in their own clothes, and not the warehouse uniform.
