Is anyone else seeing this scam ad on Mumsnet?

Every time I scroll down a thread, this pops up and if I press ‘back’ or try to refresh, it just recycles to more scammy stuff! Anyone else got this issue?

Yes it seems they can. I'm going to clear cookies and run a cleanup. See if that fixes it.

You need to go into chrome, settings, site settings, pop ups and then block the pop ups on mumsnet manually. It looks like it has given itself permission to be excluded from usual pop up blocker settings

I've done this but mumsnet wasn't on there as an exception, neither was anything dodgy looking. I only had 4 exceptions and I know them all.

OK, it's not targeted via provider cos I just had it again, but for Vodafone, on the thread about the creature running across the road. Frustrating cos unless you bookmark every couple of posts you totally lose where you are on a thread

I’m getting it for virgin. Bizarre as I tried to contact them today as their internet really is shite and keeps crashing. You just can’t speak to a human. I’m not keen on BT but at least they pick up the phone.

I’m getting an EE one and then when I close it the site jumps to a scam news site. Very annoying!!!

Clearing cache and history didn't help.
I assume MN is under some kind of spam attack.

No I'm only getting ads for JK Rowling books which I think is a genius bit of advertising Grin

The best thing I did was to install the Brave browser. It's ad free and now I can actually use MN!
I use it only for MN and it's worked a treat. No more crappy ads and loss of functionality.
I did give MN feedback on how their site is the ONLY one I use which buggered up my browsing, but nothing changed.
Another user recommended Brave.

I remember now, it was that browsing MN made my laptop fan start up because it was working too hard.
I only ever got that issue on other crappy sites with loads of ads which constantly refresh.

No more!
I have since got a new laptop so maybe it's better, but I still prefer Brave.
