Why does nobody want to write my will!

I cannot find anyone wiling to write my will. My AIBU is am I unreasonable for somebody to want my business in writing my will.

I have called four local companies today and they have all given me the brush off or promised somebody would call me back but nobody has.

I am 52 and in average health, I don’t have children so I would like to dictate where my estate goes, but I cannot find anyone to write my will. (I know I can write my own will, I would like my will lodged with a solicitor).

Coop we’re really good. Spent plenty of time going through all the details. Give them a ring

Recommend the CoOp online service. They are very good and I would recommend.

I would suggest either Co-Op or Lloyds.. My friend just used Lloyds, and I'm likely to in the next couple of months, after I've got rid of one of my assets. It's not cheap but they know what they are doing. Co-Op was used by a friend of that friend. Unfortunately I was trying to get a will done during Covid and that absolutely failed so I gave up. A lot of the online ones basically make you write the will whereas I need someone to understand what I want done so they can write it up in the correct jargon.

Marlow Wills isn't free or cheap?

She is a bonafide excellent will writer who writes wills remotely or in person.

If I remember rightly mumblechum is not a solicitor, which is what the OP has asked about.

I'm a professional adviser. Some people just scream "TROUBLE" in an email or over the phone, so I don't give them my time. They would end up using more time and energy than the fee we'd agree would allow.

I don't know if you are one of those people, but the more firms that don't call you back, the more likely that is to be the case.

Sorry to sound harsh. The most troublesome clients don't even mean to be troublesome. They usually "worry a lot" and want to check and query everything - 3 times - and send you loads of emails asking questions and asking you if some long story about their Uncle John has any bearing on their case............

Wow. No I am not one of those people whomever they may be. I am a professional person, chartered accountant, I know exactly what I need and it really is very simple, I just need to get past intestate rules, otherwise a clean split between three people. I don’t have a lot of questions, I understand the rules, I understand the tax, I just want somebody to write it down for me. And no, the one I contacted yesterday did not come back to me so far. It is like trying to find a bathroom tiler.

OP I have tried to PM you but your username comes up as unrecognised so I can't. Odd. If you would like to PM me about this please do so. I don't think I am allowed to post my details as it breaches Mumsnet advertising rules.

I am also baffled, hence my post. I didn’t want to do something with the Co op as I feel our situation is not straightforward. I wanted to find a solicitor that would have an hour to sit down and chat with me about it (at my expense). Maybe that is the issue, I am looking for a service that no linger exists.

It does still exist. If you rang our firm, you'd get put through to me (private client dept secretary) and if you were happy with the price, I'd make an appointment for you there and then, most likely within a week it would then take about a fortnight from the initial appointment to execution.

Unfortunately we're not near you but do keep trying OP 🙂
