Well how many days do you work? What happens in your days off? You could have a dose of d&v after work which should hey you one or two off bit u think you need to look at your life

YellowTreeHouse · 05/11/2022 13:28

YABU.

OnlyFannys · 05/11/2022 13:30

Can you not take annual leave?

MajesticWhine · 05/11/2022 13:43

YABU.get some rest on your weekend/day off.

Ialwayswannasometimes · 05/11/2022 13:45

i would, a sling as you're not doing it all the time they won't know and work isn't the most important thing in life.

CapitanSandy · 05/11/2022 13:46

When is your next day off? I can see how it’s tempting but I wouldn’t. I’d hold out until a day off. Are you physically or mentally tired?

SteveHarringtonsChestHair · 05/11/2022 13:48

You look a bit peaky to me, are you sure you’re not coming down with something?! Wink

VladmirsPoutine · 05/11/2022 13:56

Do it but be mindful it's not necessarily a Monday or a Friday you take off if your work pattern is standard Mon-Fri 9-6.

Winterfellismyhome · 05/11/2022 14:01

I 100% would do it. Work isnt everything

Charlottestar · 05/11/2022 14:01

I have a toddler so I get no rest at the weekend 😫

OP posts:
Onefootinthegroove · 05/11/2022 14:01

I would if I was exhausted.
Looking after mental health is as important as physical health.

YellowTreeHouse · 05/11/2022 14:02

Charlottestar · 05/11/2022 14:01

Right, but that isn’t your works problem.

You need to make arrangements so you can rest while at home.

UnstableCarHouse · 05/11/2022 14:02

No, I wouldn’t.

Batshittery · 05/11/2022 14:04

It's not something I would do

Charlottestar · 05/11/2022 14:06

equally it isn’t work’s problem if I vomit but I’m not going to go in if I do!

OP posts:
trampoline123 · 05/11/2022 14:06

Do it if you don't have a lot of annual leave left.

Nothing nicer than a day at home to yourself, on your own.

ilovesooty · 05/11/2022 14:15

Book a day's AL then. Do you get paid if you lie about being sick?

Charlottestar · 05/11/2022 14:16

I can’t, and yes. I have fixed holidays so can’t go on AL.

I probably won’t but I’m having my fantasy of a days rest …

YABU. So immoral! I can't believe anyone here is advocating pulling a sicky. That'a the problem with so many Brits. Lazy and no work ethic. Presumably your employer would still have to pay you? And presumably someone else would have to pick up your slack?

Bettyboop3 · 05/11/2022 14:18

Charlottestar · 05/11/2022 14:06

equally it isn’t work’s problem if I vomit but I’m not going to go in if I do!

But vomitting is contagious, lazyitis isn't.

Charlottestar · 05/11/2022 14:19

True but people don’t have time off only for contagious illnesses do they … stress for instance, or a bad back …

OP posts:
Scottishflower65 · 05/11/2022 14:19

Just do it.

GrandOleOpryNights · 05/11/2022 14:20

Meh. Presuming you don’t make a habit of it, just do it. Rest, sleep, feel better.

LikeTearsInRain · 05/11/2022 14:22

I take several sick days a year when I’m fine. I make sure not to exceed any limits that trigger any HR reviews etc. At most places it’s about 1-2 days a quarter. I refer to them as contractual sick days. My job roles have meant my work never really falls to anyone else, I just continue my projects when I return.

Go for it.

Obbydoo · 05/11/2022 14:24

Who does your work when you're not there? Is one of your colleagues not going to suffer because they'll need to do the job of 2 people just because you're a bit tired?
