Just had some on a crusty roll for lunch. TBF just had covid so everything tastes a bit weird. But Brie just doesn't taste as good as it used to. Sort of bland and gloopy. Have I just grown out of it?

If it's French brie (e.g President brand) it's lovely, but Somerset brie is totally tasteless IME.

I came on here to exactly the opposite!! Much prefer Somerset to French!

I love cheese but Brie and Camembert just don't do it for me. I find their 'far my' smell really off putting, and I don't like the texture either.

So, you get a brie and unwrap. Put it back in the wooden box, cut an x shallowly in the centre. Pop 1/4 glass of dry white wine in there, three spoons of honey with a sprinkle of walnuts. Cover lightly with foil. Oven for 15 minutes, serve with crusty bread and a glass of white wine preferably loire or chenn blanc. Thats how you do brie!

I’ve never seen Brie in a wooden box, not even when I lived in France.

I was about to say try Somerset brie it's so much nicer!

Oh well there must be some good ones then. but I've never had one that tasted of anything at all.

Baron Bigod. The truffle one if you have a lottery win.

You can thank me whenever you like Grin

Brie de Melun is my favourite, but hard to find

Fairislefandango · 02/11/2022 22:16

It was a M&S Somerset Brie

YABU to buy Somerset brie and expect it to be anything other than bland. Brie de Meaux is the only really good stuff.
