Yep. I've had huge panic attacks when hungover.

Wolfiefan · 01/11/2022 20:36

So don’t drink a whole bottle of wine in one go! And Knick off the smoking. (Guess you don’t mean tobacco!)

Whoopsywoo · 01/11/2022 20:38

i mean tobacco i wouldn’t smoke anything else bloody he’ll with my anxiety I’d prob end up doing something if I did. Yes I know it was stupid just sometimes like a little drink.

Yeah middle of the night after too much wine - not full panic attacks but definitely wake up anxious.

My unscientific theory is that your brain has to make you more alert to combat woozy drunkenness then when the drink wears off you’re overstimulated and feel anxious and panicky.

carefulcalculator · 01/11/2022 20:41

Alcohol often increases feelings of anxiety, and nicotine can also increase feelings of anxiety!

That’ll do it then! I def think it’s the smoking too as I had a cigarette this morning and dept really sick after then my throat started to dry out

I'm an ex-drinker and ex-smoker so am sure you can imagine what advice I will give you Wink

MichaelFabricantWig · 01/11/2022 20:52

Yes it’s a poison, causes anxiety, panic attacks and all sorts of other nasties. Not good.

Whoopsywoo · 01/11/2022 20:54

Why oh why does it feel so good at the time though! But I cannot deal with after effects like these!

Had a girls weekend away a few months ago. Steady (fairly heavy) drinking 3 days in a row. Felt beyond hideous for best part of a week in terms of talk me down type anxiety. It scared me how anxious and panicky I felt.

TooHotToRamble · 01/11/2022 21:06

Yes, it's got a name....Beer Fear

VladmirsPoutine · 01/11/2022 21:09

Yes it's very normal - for me it even became worse with age. Drinking itself gave me anxiety for a few days after and smoking alongside it definitely did not take the edge off!

Wolfiefan · 01/11/2022 21:15

A whole bottle of wine isn’t a “little drink”. It’s a binge.

SaveloyDip · 01/11/2022 21:17

Oh yes...Hangxiety! It seems to gets worse the older you get too.

ialwayswantedyoutogo · 01/11/2022 21:19

A bottle of wine at once isn’t a ‘little drink’

CaronPoivre · 01/11/2022 21:20

TooHotToRamble · 01/11/2022 21:06

I thought it was ‘hangxiety’.

Mamai90 · 01/11/2022 21:24

It's why I quit drinking. Never thought I could do it because I loved a drink but the anxiety was off the scale. So much so that I'd often have to take a diazipam the next day. And then those triggered full on panic attacks. So that was me done. The longer I've been off it the easier it gets.

Bloops · 01/11/2022 21:43

I get this most times I drink, even after 1. I don't drink any more because the anxiety it leaves me just isn't worth it.

1000yellowdaisies · 01/11/2022 21:46

Yes, used to have it a lot after binge drinking.
My post drunk anxiety got so bad i gave up drinking in 2014.

AriettyHomily · 01/11/2022 21:59

Beer fear. Firmly in peri and it's not worth it anymore unfortunately

It would be better to start a new thread.
If you find the education topic there is a 'staff room' board where I'm sure you will get advice.

Mezmer · 01/11/2022 22:09

used to be a big boozer and party animal. Now, I can barely have a glass of something early on without it upsetting my equalibrium. It disturbs my sleep so much and gives me nightmares. Good I miss a good drink!

MissAtomicBomb1 · 01/11/2022 22:11

@Ripollet just a thought, maybe consider whether you could be identified from your post. If you report it to MNHQ they can delete if you start a new thread.
