I’ll start:

Otrivine for colds

Clinique lash power - amazing mascara that stays on all day with no smudging

Silicone ear plugs - they even block out DHs snoring!

@SallyAnn32 you can get silicone earplugs on Amazon eg by 3M but the best ones I've found - also silicone - are by Happy Ears. They're better because they're a slightly different shape, and the bit you hold between your fingers is firm so you can direct it better iyswim. Also they have different sizes and they have recycled ones. I promise I'm not a shill, I've just tried a lot of different earplugs in my time and these are by far the best imo.

@CookieDoughKid I can see the difference! Your skin looks immaculate - it was pretty amazing to start with, but you now have that dewy healthy skin look - I totally know what you mean about the plumped up tone of skin.

CookieDoughKid · 01/11/2022 19:16

Tretinoin. I have taken off 5 to 8 years off my face. Smoother wrinkles, increased collagen and fresher outlook.

@CookieDoughKid could you recommend a specific brand and product, please?

CookieDoughKid · 02/11/2022 19:16

@Twooforjoy Aww thank you 😊

CookieDoughKid · 02/11/2022 19:25

@Luckingfovely yes. I use Dermatica for my face but not eye lids, which is a custom formula. They will tailor it to you. Use my referral code and we both get £5 credit. www.dermatica.co.uk/referrer/GYELLR

For eyes, it's best to avoid although I have build up tolerance near crows feet area. For eyes I use Dr. Bunting Flawless Eye serum. The ingredients are A* quality and she is a board certified dermatologist. Dermatica and Bunting is my night routine. Morning routine I use a vitamin C serum (Paula's Choice is the brand) with hyrolonic acid and an all day Sun Screen spf 50 usually.

I'm also seeing improvements with my hair (crown) as i was starting to see thinning and hair loss but I'm now starting to get thicker hair with baby hair growth too. I am using The Ordinary hair serum. It's not amazing but I am seeing an improvement so I will carry on.

There's no quick fixes so anything you use, you must be patient, build tolerance and give it 12 weeks minimum.

olapexidum · 02/11/2022 19:29

@CookieDoughKid

I can see the difference and as a long term user of dermatica I can vouch that it really does work. I had acne and now I don't. Simple as that. Not a single spot since I started treatment after 25 years of persistent acne. I just wish it had been made sooner!

I continue treatment and now use Azelaic acid form them and my skin is firmer and brighter

What's the hair product you're using to stop thinning?

FictionalCharacter · 02/11/2022 19:53

Ecover multi action all purpose cleaning spray is the best I’ve ever used. It’s even good for cleaning pet housing because it cleans really well and doesn’t contain any toxic stuff.
Vanish bars for getting yuck out of clothes before putting them in the washing machine. Much better than the gel or spray. Also for getting yuck out of carpets.
Pure aloe vera gel for the skin - great for holidays in hot places as it’s all you need for facial aftersun, body lotion, foot lotion, everything.
eSpares washing machine and dishwasher cleaner. Way better than the soapy perfumy cleaners you get in the shops and much cheaper. Gets rid of all limescale.

CookieDoughKid · 02/11/2022 20:08

@olapexidum it's this hair density serum. As there is a sale im going to buy 3 bottles!! theordinary.com/en-gb/multi-peptide-serum-for-hair-density-hair-scalp-treatment-100434.html

takealettermsjones · 02/11/2022 20:15

Tiger Balm (red ointment) for bites/stings and also colds.

Luckingfovely · 02/11/2022 20:20

Huge thanks @CookieDoughKid Smile

Sn0tnose · 02/11/2022 20:33

This thing. You can get them for a couple of pounds on Amazon. If you have long hair or pets or even anything overly fluffy, this will pick up everything from your carpet, even if your vacuum is a superduper hair grabbing one. I’d be lost without mine and I have a massively overpriced Shark.

Propertyporn · 02/11/2022 20:51

@Sn0tnose I'm a cleaner and that thing makes my life so much easier! I'd also add the Beldray rubber broom from The Range.

Astonish paste in the green metal tin is miles better than Pink stuff. Elbow grease, Viakal and the big blue shiny microfibre clothes from Wilko for cleaning glass.

Wine also does exactly what it says it will.

All this chat about skin stuff is a bit beyond me.

can someone explain in very very simple terms what this stuff is that will make my skin pillowy and where to get it?

I have used your referral code.
I have loads of moisturisers can I still use these with the cream?

Saracen · 03/11/2022 08:49

Alberto Balsam shampoo bar. Cheap, lasts for ages, environmentally friendly, and lathers up beautifully. I don't know that it would work so well on long hair, however, as you need to "scrub" it against your head, which might cause tangles.

Anyfeckinusername · 03/11/2022 07:06

My DH bought this as I have long hair. He LOVES it - so much that he feels the need to show me what it picks up 🤮

Metanium nappy rash cream - incredible stuff

Seconded!

FlimFlam2 · 03/11/2022 19:53

Bosch hammer drill. It will destroy or drill through anything.

Lotsofowls · 03/11/2022 20:00

A&E. Turn up with a life or limb threatening accident or emergency and you will get world class treatment….immediately. Turn up with 4 weeks of abdominal pain or the skin rash that you’ve seen your GP about 10 times….and be prepared to join a long queue.

CookieDoughKid · 03/11/2022 22:07

@RandomCatGenerator basically, it's a topical face cream that contains Tretinoin. Tretinoin is powerful type of Vitamin A (called a retinoid) that works with your skin to speed up cell turnover. It increases thickness of skin, smooths wrinkles and evens out pigmentation. It is one of the few ingredients proven to actually work, countless of clinical trials and is based on proven data with real subjects. I've a Chemistry background so I'm very picky on what I pay for and put on my face. The brand I use is Dermatica because it has proper strength doses and they actually tailor the formula to your skin (unlike high street brands that cost the same but isnt tailored and you don't get the correct strengths needed for it to be properly effective..)
