Are you still testing?

Came down with in the old world would be a ‘cold like symptom’ on Saturday - scratchy throat, slightly elevated body temperature, tired, achy - didn’t occur to test, woke up today to feeling slightly better however had a sudden dizzy spell- had just one test leftover so tested and I’m positive- feel slightly worried mainly because I know it’s Covid, but are people still testing?

Yeah as I'm CEV

Cw112 · 30/10/2022 19:26

Yup pregnant with gd and therefore vulnerable so I'm still testing and asking if those I'm socialising with will too.

ExtraOnions · 30/10/2022 19:26

Yep

StripyHorse · 30/10/2022 19:27

You will probably find dozens of people on here saying no, 'We have to live with it' etc etc but I still do. My dad has cancer and is undergoing chemo. For him (and others like him) I test if I have symptoms, or if I am seeing him. Isolating while positive seems the very least I could do to help vulnerable people to have a decent life. While people don't test it means 1000s are essentially shielding or being put at risk.

StripyHorse · 30/10/2022 19:27

I still mask in indoor public places too.

RamblingFar · 30/10/2022 19:28

Yes, but only with symptoms. I had Covid in early March and still not 100%. I wouldn't want to potentially make someone else very ill if it's preventable.

ClareDiamond · 30/10/2022 19:28

No I don’t test. Nor did I ever!

Caspianberg · 30/10/2022 19:29

No. We have had cold like symptoms almost constantly since July/ August, and I guarantee we haven’t been positive for covid for 3-4 months so seems pointless.

Can only do face to face tests still where we live anyway and it’s 5 day quarantine still. I just haven’t time for that every other day for months on end, after 2.5+ years

Usernamestillloading · 30/10/2022 19:29

Thanks for the responses, the main reason I checked is due to the school run tomorrow- I would feel awful putting someone vulnerable at risk.

No, I stay away from vulnerable family members if I'm unwell. They don't want any other virus either.

TabithaTittlemouse · 30/10/2022 19:30

Yes because of our jobs.
Hope you are okay.

Usernamestillloading · 30/10/2022 19:30

I haven’t had the booster but had the two doses a year back- anyone has with with just the two. Was it ok? Or did you get really ill?

Perfectlystill · 30/10/2022 19:31

Yes I did last week as was due to visit an elderly relative. I felt fine apart from a mild headache and would never have thought to test were we not visiting him.

It was positive.

Very annoying but I have abided by the guidance and stayed away from others.

Notagain12 · 30/10/2022 19:31

No. We have a cough or cold every week it seems and I can’t keep buying them and worrying about it. We don’t have to isolate so I’m not testing anymore so I don’t have to think about it. How can we ever live a normal life if we keep isolating?!

userxx · 30/10/2022 19:31

Nope.

Looneytune253 · 30/10/2022 19:31

Not if I can help it. Dh still tests if he needs to since he's caring for his mum who is cev. He was positive recently and I tested a cpl of times but try not to since I'm self employed. I would prob test if I was feeling very poorly but otherwise not.

PutinIsAWarCriminal · 30/10/2022 19:34

I haven't, but then I don't really get colds. I seem to have an immunity to covid too, despite being in a house full of infected people last year and lots of hospital visits to someone infected recently. If I showed symptoms then I would test, just to protect my customers and older members of the family. I would carry on as normal to a certain extent if I had it, but I would just mask, warn customers, and avoid the oldies.

pigsDOfly · 30/10/2022 19:39

Yes. I felt very unwell with a high temperature and wanted to confirm it - the test was positive.

I'm in my 70s, have a heart condition and live alone so wanted to know what I was dealing with.

As it turned out it really knocked me out for several weeks.

Really annoys me when people say it's no worse than a cold. That might be the case for some but for others of us it's really nasty.

Lcb123 · 30/10/2022 19:42

I would only test if I was going to see someone vulnerable and I had symptoms.

Soubriquet · 30/10/2022 19:43

I did two weeks ago as I lost my sense of taste. I was positive.

Took a week for the positive to go and I’m still feeling rough now

RedRobyn2021 · 30/10/2022 19:43

Yes we have been.

Still haven't had it either!

Why haven’t you had the booster!?

of course people are still testing

Villagetoraiseachild · 30/10/2022 19:44

Hi yes, I got covid after two jabs and wiped out for two weeks plus. Pal just got it first time last week, had symptoms and tested twice before positive. and her dh got it as well. Dont fancy getting booster this week but don't want to risk getting it again and it being even worse. Masking up too due to hosp admins peaking, poss about to go into decline soon hopefully. If I had flu symptoms I would test as I would just want to know. Also if meeting up with CEV pal.

ThreeblackCats · 30/10/2022 19:44

No, I’m no longer testing. But we don’t need to isolate when positive and I had Covid in February.

Essexgirlupnorth · 30/10/2022 19:45

We still have a lot of tests not testing twice I week like I was but if I had symptoms I would especially as there have been a few cases at work
