Who watches it? I watched it yesterday and was bored as fuck, wouldn’t watch it again. Aibu to think it’s rubbish?

OMG I don’t watch this morning and think it’s rubbish TV. But the sheer amount of CONSTANT bashing the the show and its presenters get on here convince me that a large number of mumsnetters are actually insanely jealous of the attractive presenters with cushy jobs, and this just a good old-fashioned green-eyed bitch-fest!

OMG yes everyone is insanely jealous you must be right. 🙄

Ha ha, good one 😆

Sparklingbrook · 29/10/2022 17:25

Attractive presenters with cushy jobs. Interesting take.

PinkArt · 29/10/2022 17:29

What would everyone prefer to see instead in that slot? Daytime budgets are tiny compared to evening and prime time shows, so heavily formatted shows like This Morning or Homes Under The Hammer or game shows like Tipping Point are the best ways to make those budgets stretch.
This Morning on the whole does the job it's designed for very well, in my opinion. SAHP, people off sick, retired folks can dip on and out and watch an interview or cookery, fashion etc segment. It's not on the whole an audience who are able to sit for an hour and watch a drama or documentary that requires more focus.
The show also came into its own during lockdown. It shifted gear very quickly to how to make face masks or store cupboard recipes. The phone ins dealt with loneliness, increases in things like OCD or panic attacks. As someone WFH and living alone, having the show on in the background often felt like the strongest link I had to the outside world.
I'm not a huge fan of Holly and Phil and I think the recent shake up in presenters has been great, but i think the basic premise of the show still has a lot of value.

Sparklingbrook · 29/10/2022 17:37

Another thing I don't understand is what Lorraine's show is for. Why is she still on?
Obviously I am insanely jealous of her (that goes without saying-we all are) but it's just this weird bit between GMB and This Morning.

VladmirsPoutine · 29/10/2022 17:41

Of course it's a cushy job - get driven to work with a catered breakfast, get your hair and makeup done before chatting nonsense for a few hours while all glammed up then get driven home before lunchtime which is probably catered. Paid hundreds of thousands a year to basically be on a constant jolly. I'd sign up in a heartbeat!

Absolute Drival!

Christ only knows. One of my biggest fears is winding up in a care home, no autonomy for whatever reasons, and being made to watch that or Blankety fucking blank 😫

Oh GOD now I have a new greatest fear!

Like any TV programme it’s personal choice isn’t it? I guess the viewing figures speak for themselves.

(or maybe this is another thinly disguised Phil and Holly bashing thread 🤔)

Or unemployment bashing 😋

Sparklingbrook · 29/10/2022 17:52

I wouldn’t. I would be unable to maintain a fixed grin (or cry to order) for 2 1/2 every morning hours for a start. Or show any sort of enthusiasm for the D list guests.

hummerbird · 29/10/2022 17:57

It is probably watched by the same over-weight people who watch the soaps all day. The ones who don't work.

Now now, some ‘commoners’ are very thin.

Sparklingbrook · 29/10/2022 18:02

Is it even possible to ‘watch the soaps all day’ ?

Zippedydoo123 · 29/10/2022 18:02

Yes it is boring. BBC has much better tv on that time of day.

😂 I thought that too!

I thought the soaps were on in the evening. But that’s obviously changed. 🤷‍♀️

SparkyBlue · 29/10/2022 19:52

I remember it years ago when Richard and Judy were on and it was great. There used to be a fabulous fashion lady called Lesley (I think) and the hair and make up segments were always excellent.

ProperSorryFrown · 29/10/2022 11:45

Patronising,repetitive and shallow.

Pretty much sums up ITV's entire light entertainment output. The intellectual heavyweights of Phil 'n' Holly, Bradley Walsh, that Stephen guy who used to do the magic, and the odious Ant and Dec.

crochetmonkey74 · 29/10/2022 20:09

This thread is crazy. It's just a TV show. It has lots of people who like it. If you don't, don't watch it. I hate all the bashing of the audience on here.
I like how 'people who don't work" is seen to be lazy rather than people on shifts, or days off, or the retired or the ill.

APJ1 · 29/10/2022 20:11

It is truly awful these days, but not as awful as The One Show.

Now that is tedious, twee guff that I wonder how anyone could enjoy.

I have never been able to watch The One Show. They get some decent guests but the interviews are interspersed with random VTs and it’s all so awkward.

runjy · 29/10/2022 20:14

I always wonder this, it's so shit. Perhaps people switch it on in the background as they clean, tidy, eat. Cant believe people actually sit in front of the whole thing to watch.

runjy · 29/10/2022 20:15

The ones who don't work.

That's not justification though as there is still other better things to watch!

BetterBeCarefulBoysYouJustMightSetTheWorldOnFire · 29/10/2022 22:06

It's utter dross. Never understood the appeal, even from my student days. Now I've got kids and am 'a mum' at home a lot of the time I'm the prime audience, but I hate it more than ever. It's patronising rubbish and hopefully with the unpopularity of Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby after queuegate means that this is its dying days. There are far better things that ITV could be spending their money on that the huge salaries of those pair of knobs.

LizzieSiddal · 29/10/2022 22:15

Richard and Judy were fab, proper journalists and as a young mum at home, kept me coming.

Phil and Holly are pound shop versions imo.
