To not want to cut my boys hair?

14 month old little boy - his hair is gorgeous! (I know I'm biased) it's a little wild yes, but that's kinda what I love. It doesn't bother him in anyway (not in his eyes etc)

But my god everyone won't stfu making comments that he should have it cut now because people might mistake him for a girl 😒

He still obviously has quite fine 'baby' hair & getting him to sit still long enough would be mission impossible anyway.
His dad wants it cut too & I just don't want to. Neither of us trumps the other in terms of reasons or rights of course.
He wants it cut because he does, I don't want it cut because I don't basically.

We both are basically unreasonable aren't we? 🤣

Also, if any of you lovely lot have some great comebacks when others bring it up please do share! I've seen some of the most brilliant witty responses on other threads!

Don't cut it! I remember ds2's beautiful baby curls, I loved them sooooo much. So sad that they are long gone now as he hasn't been tiny for a long time. I never understood the arguments to get them cut, as no one would be saying that about a girl.

I’ve mentioned this above - if a girl had long straggly hair falling in her eyes I’d also suggest cutting it short. If I saw a boy with his hair long but trimmed well, styled, neatly brushed and tied/clipped up then no problem! It’s just that 99% of the time when mums gush about their little boy’s ‘gorgeous long hair’ or ‘wild curls’ or ‘beautiful long locks’ they’ll then show you a picture of a child with straggly baby hair falling all over their face/straggling in dead ends to their shoulders. It’s different for girls because there seems to be different standards there - nobody wants to start a thread gushing over toddler girls with messy hair because it wouldn’t be seen as special/cute/gorgeous - it would just be seen as messy/unbrushed hair.

I have always loved long hair on a man, and when my DS was small it was great to see him with his beautiful long blond curly locks ! When he got to about 6, I walked into the kitchen to find that he'd got my kitchen scissors and had given himself a crew cut .....dammit ! He is now in his 30's and still cuts / shaves his own hair in the shower !
