We've booked our Christmas do at work. And discovered that it's a two course dinner. (Fine) but it soup and not pudding!! I mean why wouldn't you offer pudding instead of soup. (Lighthearted before anyone whinges)

Vegetable soup and no pudding? Is it the workhouse? I wouldn't get up off the sofa for that.

I went to a wedding once where there was no pudding. I did not know this in advance.

This is the unforeseen miserable result of Covid, Brexit, the breakdown of society... No Christmas pudding? Bloody hell. They'll be cancelling Christmas next. Is there any point, I ask you?
Agree with ringing them up and politely asking demanding they swap the boring irrelevant soup for pudding. They don't need a pastry chef - they can nip to Aldi and get some in

@AssignedSlytherinAtBirth mauve we've slipped back to the Puritan era!

One of the first things on the checklist for Christmas party venues when I was organising such things was menu options - if they didn’t offer 3 courses and at least 3 options for each course, they didn’t get a look in.
Next was whether you could do a 2 or 3 course choice (and whether it could be mix & match across the group) plus how much difference it was between 2&3 courses.
Lastly, we would consider how adventurous, or traditional, the choices were - so, fine if they offered soup, pate or melon as a starter; but if it was veggie soup, smoothie pate and melon fan it was a lower choice than say - French onion soup, farmhouse pate or melon and fig salad with dressing.

Oh grim! Nope I’m a dessert over starter person!
