Police refusing to identify suspects gender

Sorry it’s a daily mail link but a friend sent this to me and I think it is absolutely ridiculous that we are living in a world where the police are to scared to identify a persons gender, after they are suspected of a crime. The person in the picture is clearly a man. Not really Aibu but I just feel stories like this need more attention. This person is suspected of exposing themselves to two teenage girls. Poor girls

their gender makes no difference to the public, it’s not necessary information

but this is MN so you’ll get the J.K Rowling fan club clambering to support your bias

I don't think the police are scared, makes more sense to describe that person as a person.

Say they're looking for a man and at first glance you wouldn't look again at him because many people would assume female.

Say they're looking for a woman and people may be confused and unsure whether to report as it's clearly a man

Say they're looking for a person of indeterminate gender and you look at the picture.

Also saves arguments (you'd hope)... It's definitely a person.

women do not have a penis.

that is a man.

the police are more interested in a man’s feelings than the safety & dignity of women & children.

Sounds about right

If that person was a woman, they'd have said it was a woman.
If it had been a man not wearing skirt and wig, they'd have said it was a man,

"their gender makes no difference to the public, it’s not necessary information"

Person exposes themselves in front of teenagers and masturbates in front of them.

However will we identify their gender? It's such a puzzle. Maybe we'll never find them.

He is literally a wanker and you say his gender is irrelevant

Rather than the BTP being "woke", this is more like the Daily Fail who are jumping on the "anti-woke" bandwagon.

How relevant is it that nowhere have BTP described the person in the images as a "suspect". Their wording is "Officers believe the person in the CCTV images may have information which could help their investigation." Perhaps BTP don't have any good images of the suspect, but they do have images of this quite distinctive person taken at around the same time and want to interview them as a witness.

There have been other cases where a crime has been committed (let's say by a 6' tall man aged 30-40) and police have issued images of other people in the area at the time (let's say a group of females aged 18-25) who they would like to interview to help their investigation.

Remember Christoper Jefferies, the Bristol landlord who was vilified in the press because he "looked a bit funny" and pronounced guilty by them after the murder of Joanna Yeates. After Vincent Tabak admitted killing her and was convicted, Jefferies won damages against multiple newspapers, including the Daily Fail.

Well many women do get their titties out in public…there’s even a parade, slut walk, where thousands do it en masse. Tits are sexual….not as sexual as a dick, but can’t really say they’re not sexual at all.

Do they tend to pretend/dress like men when they do so?

Jesus, the pretzel-level of twisting that goes on would be funny if it wasn’t so damned ludicrous.

That's the whole damn point, no one cares about anyone's gender. Gender is literally the thought in someone's head and matters not a jot.

Their sex makes a whole lot of difference and I don't believe for one second that you looked at that picture and thought it was a woman. If you say you did, you are lying. But then, anyone that says TWAW are liars anyway.

BTW, you're kidding yourself if you think that it's only on MN that the man in the photo would be clocked as a man. Do you really think if you took the picture and showed someone on the street that they wouldn't immediately say it was a man? Or maybe somewhere else online like Pistonheads?

Do feel free to pop back on this thread when the perpetrator is identified and tried. Am sure we’ll all be happy to see that the person in the photo was an bystander who managed to help police nail the culprit.

That outfit is almost a parody of a three-letter acronym - if that’s an adult human female then I’ll happily eat my hat.
