To be annoyed at Prince Harry's memoir title SPARE

benisright · 27/10/2022 13:25

I have zero interest in this couple who seem to enjoy making a living on moaning about how they are poorly treated in Britain. Just saw the headline news and the cover of Harry's memoir with his face and one single word SPARE.

Get a life for goodness sake. I'm about his age and never once thought of him as a spare. He kinda invented his own tale.

Season 5 of the crown will have finished. This season focussed heavily on Diana and the end of her life. That’s the reason I think

And it's around Kate's birthday!

JustDanceAddict · 27/10/2022 17:26

The heir and the spare!

oakleaffy · 27/10/2022 17:27

Harry is HORRENDOUSLY spoiled-Bailed out again and again by his family.
Try being an adopted child or a step child, Harry.

You are entitled and play the victim.
No sympathy.

I'm so sick of him living in his bubble of navel-gazing, self pitying nonsense. Literally, millions of people grow up in real hardship, real poverty, losing parents young, abuse, no access to education or healthcare. The list goes on and on and on. They didn't choose their incredibly difficult lives, either. At least Harry's <cough> incredibly difficult life <cough> was immeasurably more comfortable and secure and, you know, non life threatening than most.

Even his much lauded intense love of the military, the 'only place he felt truly at home' just highlighted how incredibly entitled and selfish he was. All the time he was in Afghanistan, supposedly risking life & limb and being a proper, little soldier - he had a contingent of special forces bodyguards and a waiting helicopter to whisk him to safety at the first sniff of trouble. He blithely put everyone else around him in danger, just by being there.

Actually, that does sound pretty crap for somebody.

They're never going to be as special as their older brother, been told at school (and at home, perhaps) that you weren't actually wanted by your parents, they just had to have you in case the one they wanted died, been bombarded by not just the other arseholes at school but in the media about how your father isn't really your father, it was some other bloke your Mum hadn't even met at the time, even the colour of your hair is consistent with both sides of your family, but is taken as 'proof' your much loved and dead mother was a bit of a slapper whilst your Dad was knocking off his old girlfriend all the way through the marriage, expected to do 'something useful' as an adult, find something they like and has always been something your family has done - and despite not having any real purpose other than being there in case your brother wraps his car around a tree or flies a helicopter into a mountain/pointy end first into the North Sea, you can't even get on with having a career because a) random nutters of all persuasions will want to target you and thus endanger everyone around you, b) the same media who has been going on about your parentage since you were little and fuelling those bullies releases your location, thus making it more likely that a) would happen and c) you can't even get yourself killed with honour or disappear into anonymous soldierhood because there's still a possibility your brother might kark it before he shacks up properly with his girlfriend and gets her up the duff, so the twats who thought it would be acceptable for you to be filmed walking behind your Mum's coffin when you had just about got the idea that Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy don't exist decree that you can't possibly be allowed to do anything that might damage you until the first 2 sprogs get dropped.

@ajandjjmum

Indeed. In this field, hear hoofbeats don’t think horses. Think even toed ruminants.

Shoehorns at the ready. And here was me thinking this thread was about ‘the spare’.

It is almost as though some folk cannot help having a swipe.

Have you read the book ?

KitBumbleB · 27/10/2022 17:33

I love the title, I hope Meghan writes a book, I hope she calls it "Me Again"

Diana might have wanted the boys brought up equally but Diana died...and before that she had very little say or sway as the glorified breeder.

The QM used to have special tea with just Charles and William because they were the Heirs.

How horrid!

KitBumbleB · 27/10/2022 17:35

Why cant you edit on this site??

Why is it ok for Samantha Markle to write a book about Meghan but its not ok for Harry to write about himself?
Unofficial biographies are written about them all the time, why not take back control? Didn't his mum write a book as well?

Everyone loves the Game of Thrones quote about armouring yourself in words and they can never be used to hurt you....but not when Harry does it

It’s not, though. They were the heirs. They needed ‘training’ and to be party to discussions about future plans.

‘A boy called spare’ ?

I do hope not but I fear you may be right.

I am sure it will be the same with George.
Diana would have none of this but some of the Royal Family blame Diana for treating Harry the same as William for the issues there have been with Harry.

Fruitbatt · 27/10/2022 17:39

The Queen Mother left considerably more money to Harry than William to compensate for the fact that PW would inherit the Duchy of Cornwall.

Wonnle · 27/10/2022 17:40

They forgot the the word after SPARE and that is PRICK

hopeishere · 27/10/2022 17:42

It's so negative. Michelle Obama's was called becoming much more positive.

I agree he needs to draw a line now. Stop shitting on your family and carve your own role.

The mental anguish he is causing talking about his mental anguish...

William shares the same parents yet somehow is managing very well .

But he's not married to Megan Me Me Me Me Marbles is he

She also left William a massive estate in Scotland

I kind of want to read it now.

No he is married to Kate. Ask Rose how that is going.

FamSender · 27/10/2022 17:47

Do you think he will write about William's affair in his book? I have a feeling that is where the ongoing animosity and mistrust is coming from. I have read Harry has asked to tone down some stuff in the book following the Queens death.

I was struck by the title... quite stark, punchy and a little but victimesque.

It’s bloody hilarious,
heir and a spare… he deffo didn’t come up with it though, not smart enough…

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 27/10/2022 17:48

ArtisanFrog · 27/10/2022 15:10

The title is very revealing I think, even if it was done with humour. The victimhood narrative is getting very tiring and doing them no favours at this point. They live in immense wealth and privilege, I struggle to have any sympathy.

He has experienced terrible loss as a child but seems to be trying to make a career out of that which is undignified at this point.

Very well said.

Croque · 27/10/2022 17:49

How petty and obsessively overinvested. These people don't know you lol.
