To ask you to admit doing the annoying things people on MN complain about?

For an anonymous internet forum, it continually strikes me as odd that people very rarely admit to engaging in the problematic or annoying behaviours complained about on here - it's always someone else doing it, apparently. Whether it's hogging the middle lane on the motorway, having kids who are out of control in public places, being a noisy neighbour or not picking up dog poo, people on MN constantly complain about these things happening around them but if no one on here admits to doing it, who are all these offenders? For example, several people in my neighbourhood are leaving their dog's poo around constantly, but when this is brought up on here every single dog owner loudly exclaims that it it's these dog owners who give them a bad name, that they never go out walking without carrying several bags for good measure! Same with bad driving - people on here love calling out driving pet peeves, but surely at least some people on here are engaging in those very same behaviours e.g. tailgating, driving too slowly or bad parking, that everyone complains about?

Are people on here just squeaky clean or in denial? I admit it, I do hog the middle lane sometimes, there you go 😬

I have toilet brushes, a tumble dryer, (who knew that was an issue) and I'm a boomer. I also drive when I could walk and unnecessarily have my own car.

I'm one of the despised generation and do all the naughty things you do, in fact I'm going shopping soon to spend some of my final salary pension.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 27/10/2022 08:29

I have a tumble dryer too and use it most days. It’s an absolute necessity and I can’t believe people don’t have them (or have them and don’t use them). Aren’t everyone’s clothes really smelly in winter?!

I park in the parent and child bays when I don't have the kids with me.

🤷🏻‍♀️ It's not illegal, I don't give a shit.

Gosh what a lovely socially aware person you are. You must be so proud 🙄

BruhWhy · 27/10/2022 08:26

Yep, don't get to do it much because they're filled with other people doing exactly the same thing.

Yes, there are lots of hideously selfish people out there.
It what makes life unnecessarily difficult and upsetting.

MossCoveredTree · 27/10/2022 08:39

I have mixed feelings about toilet brushes. I feel in one way they are a fundamental requirement in loos- especially to allow guests to deal with any remnants. I am squeamish though - using one is similar to the feeling of plunging your hand into a cold sink of old dishwater to find the plug.

Yes I'm sure that's what people think as I get out of the car without the kids.

I don't seem to qualify for blue badge though despite my condition being here to stay, so I really don't care what people think tbh. Boo hiss, blah blah.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 27/10/2022 08:43

The P&C thing is funny because my experience of MN is that, even if you have newborn quads, a 1yo and a 3yo in the car, you must never park in P&C because it’s so entitled and it’s not an obligation, and that 22yo man in a Porsche 911 who is sprinting into Asda like Linford Christie probably has an invisible disability and needs it more than you. And also P&C spaces are just a technique to get parents into the store they don’t actually care about your child and you’re a silly bint if you fall for the supermarkets charms and park there (these people forget that they are also in the shop thanks to some clever marketing technique because people on MN are also immune e to marketing 😂).

So in that note you’d think @BruhWhy was a hero not ‘hideous’ 😂

They're usually big honking 4x4s here, with not even a strategically placed unused carseat in the back! Amateurs.

I didn't believe what my children told me had happened at school until I'd spoken to the school and got both sides of the story.

Is the parking on pavements legal for me in England (I don’t drive not sure if it is/is sometimes). I know on some roads it’s actually the only way that can work to allow traffic to pass. Do get really annoyed when road seems wide enough and I’m squeezing past as a pedestrian into a hedge on my other side.

It’s illegal in London only I think

NoNameNowAgain · 27/10/2022 09:16

I have parked in a parent and child space when dashing into the supermarket at 8am on the way to work.

For those saying a squirt of bleach removes skid marks what about when they’re on the bottom of the bowl? You can’t squirt the bleach directly onto them because of the water.

That was me. Without turning this into a skiddy thread, I'll just repeat: in 42 years I have never comes across one that a squirt of bleach doesn't shift. Even if below the water line and so not directly applied.

I don’t know about London but I thought it was illegal, but for this reason only the police can deal with it not parking wardens.

Well I’ll give it a try but I’m sceptical tbh. I bet when you put your glasses on your toilet bowl is gonna resemble a leopards fur 🐆

Nope. Just in London

Very thick bleach settles to the bottom of the bowl. I squirt it before I go to work and when I come back toilet is as clean as a whistle.

I also encourage courtesy flushes which can stop skid marks in their tracks

nogginatemycat · 27/10/2022 10:29

I have a tumble dryer, I have a hybrid car and often I idle to keep the battery topped up (as per advice from manufacturer), I watch porn with my DH, I play video games now and a gain, we eat meat, I don't tip, we have a toilet brush, I voted Brexit, I don't like Meghan Markle. Oh noo I must be Satan 👹

BettyPaws · 27/10/2022 10:41

My kids play in my garden loudly from 8am till 8pm on the summer, they jump on a massive trampoline and harass neighbours by chatting to them and chucking balls over the wall into their gardens. I don’t actually care if anyone else finds it annoying, if they don’t want to see or hear kids they should go and live somewhere without neighbours.

PutstheAinAudiAhole · 27/10/2022 11:16

I walk my dog off the lead she has no interest in other dogs or people who aren’t flinging her ball…I know a lot of people on MN think I should go directly to jail for this but I don’t care 🤷🏼‍♀️ also she sleeps in my bed and I’m yet to die of some dog in bed related disease

thecatsthecats · 27/10/2022 11:22

Ooh, ooh, I have another one.

I judge people all the time.

As such, my life is filled with people of good character, and any shit mongers with sloppy moral behaviour can't directly affect me.

People with shifty morals will not exclude you from their bad behaviour. If you see them treating someone else like crap, you should know that it's only a matter of time before they treat you like shit too.

That’s disgusting. Repulsive human being.

Yes I think that's the worst one on here. Most of the others are relative light-hearted, if a bit annoying.
