Does anyone know about this? The government seem really keen to rip up everything. AIBU to be worried or is it not going to happen?

It's the reason I decided to leave the UK the morning of the BREXIT result. This was always part of the plan. It's just that COVID got in the way a little.

It's a feature not a bug as they say.

Where did you go @AlisonDonut? Am thinking I would like to do the same eventually.

France. We'd just been for 2 weeks and I didn't want to come home. So we've moved about an hour's drive north of where we stayed. We'd been back several times in between and during lockdown spent our time planning and looking at areas, houses etc and we came a year ago next week. We've kept our UK house and rented it out so should we decide to come back we can. And the tenants know this! But it's highly unlikely.

Thank you. Not gonna lie, it is lovely!

@AlisonDonut did you already have residency?

'Red tape that ties businesses' is how Tories view rights such as employment rights, equal pay for men and women, pension rights for same-sex married couples, food standards and aviation safety rules, environmental protections, etc.

Yes, businesses can save a lot of money by not implementing the above.

Considering that the UK is now out of the EU and our economy is contracting, the only way the UK can compete is in a race to the bottom.

TheLette · 26/10/2022 16:33

I don't think that's correct. Parts of Acts of Parliament implement EU law. This is certainly the case for the Consumer Rights Act (e.g. the entire unfair terms part!). My understanding is that those parts would also be sunsetted and not just statutory instruments (i.e. regulations).

TheLette · 26/10/2022 16:34

Sorry that was to a poster above who suggested that Acts of Parliament would not be affected.

No. Early retirement.

Cavviesarethebest · 26/10/2022 17:33

There just been a good speech on this y someone in the hol

so basically the thing is that ministers get to decide what laws to keep - without parliamentary or other scrutiny. No obligation to consult.

others might have realised that my pea brain didn’t quite understand that
