Not a TAAT, but inspired by one.

What ‘childish’ things do you do for fun? I don’t mean watching tv or going to the gym - I mean the sort of things that make you feel young and silly and happy.

I need more fun in my life and all my hobbies are serious ones!

When walking the dog in the fields I pretend I’m military working behind enemy lines.

Sometimes when I’m home alone I pretend I’m the author from Misery, I tie and egg to the bottom of my foot so I can’t put weight on it and write.

Gevrgrgrtv · 24/10/2022 22:08

I talk to my plants. I love to watch things grow.

I like dancing around my house

I enjoy making up little scenarios in my head about people I see in my day to day life

eating a whole pack of biscuits and watching the real housewives

advent calendars

autienotnaughty · 24/10/2022 22:09

I love dancing preferably at a party but if necessary in my house with Hey Google 😂

Unseelie · 24/10/2022 22:09

👀

Er

I don’t often, really. I love going for long walks, but I’m not sure that’s fun. The last fun I had was probably a speedboat ride on the sea last summer, or a comedy stand up night, but they’re both rare.

I do like zumba at the gym, is that fun?

I really like playing with toddlers. My DC ar much older now but occasionally I play with a friends toddler and that’s so fun.

MsChatterbox · 24/10/2022 22:10

Netball and dancing! Think it's where I laugh the most.

elp30 · 24/10/2022 22:12

I go roller skating and hula hoop. I don't have those fancy weighted hoops but the old school plastic ones. I also jump rope with my granddaughter and I can double-Dutch better than she can :)

HelenMirrensWeightedBlanket · 24/10/2022 22:15

I love these! Lots of dancing - I don’t dance nearly enough.

I’d forgotten that I went on a speedboat once, years ago. It was loads of fun. Maybe I need to take more risks!

@TheLegendOfTheRent - The egg thing is truly brilliant. Are you an author??

Join a club - exercise classes are great and the less obvious ones can be really fun! I go to hoop and trampoline classes. I've also heard of drum dance class which sounds amazing! Or language classes etc are great fun. you'll meet likeminded friends for life 😊
Other than that, I spend most of my time with my animals and they bring me so much joy. I particularly love playing rough and tumble with my golden retriever. (Which sounds a bit weird typed out 🤷‍♀️ 🤣)

Perfectlystill · 24/10/2022 22:19

Walking my dog is fun. I run with her and she barks with excitement. And it makes me laugh when she runs away from me and plays grandmothers footstools when I try to catch her when she's chasing squirrels.

SuperlativeOxymoron · 24/10/2022 22:19

Whenever dh and I go out for a walk, if there's no children playing in the park we go and play on the swings and seesaw.

At work I get involved with the children's playground games when I'm on break and lunch duty.

fruitbrewhaha · 24/10/2022 22:21

I go to lots of gigs, I love love music.

Slicedpeaches · 24/10/2022 22:34

I am a babysitter type carer for a little boy in the next street. He has a few complex disabilities and can't go out much now its cold. So a few evenings a week I go to his house and we play with all his toys and videogames. He likes dressing up costumes, action men, cartoons, duplo, playdoh, and playing with anything 'goopy'. All very childish and I love doing all of that with him. Its a nice break from having to just do 'adult' stuff.

Added bonus that I love cleaning so after I put him to bed I get to clean up all the paint/foam/general gunk and thats pretty relaxing too.

7Worfs · 24/10/2022 22:35

I don’t. I had fun once and it was awful.

Subnauctic · 24/10/2022 22:38

I've also listened to the new Taylor Swift album on repeat since Friday which even my 9YO tells me is 'so cringe mum!'

justcallmebozo · 24/10/2022 22:48

When i walk under a bridge, especially the old brick build railway bridges, i make random loud noises. Dog gets overexcited and starts yelping, and the echo of her yelping makes me giggle like a kid.

Must try to remember to look round and make sure there's nobody nearby before i do it.

Lostthetastefordahlias · 24/10/2022 23:01

Great question. I like swimming for fun, not lane swimming, just messing about relaxing in the water/ jacuzzi. I read some books just for fun (like cookery books from the library, interior design books, just waiting for November to start on the Christmas romcoms 😂) rather rhan intellectual satisfaction - when I was a child I loved nothing more than a stack of books so this seems quite childlike to me. I love going to old buildings and pretending we lived in them when they were built!

kittenkipping · 24/10/2022 23:08

I like video games. Not grown up ones. Mario et al. I also like hide and seek- dh and I (40s) often go into the woods in the dark to play hide and seek - recently including our teens. It brilliantly scary and fun in equal measure. Just the children and I love rollercoasters!

WhaaWhaa · 24/10/2022 23:10

I go on a rope swing over a river when I'm walking the dog.

I ride the trolley back to the trolley park in the supermarket.

crackofdoom · 24/10/2022 23:14

I stick my face in the cats' fluffy tummies and blow raspberries.

At election time I stalk the streets and stick googly eyes on the mugshots on all the Tory election posters.

I like to go to raves and get shitfaced.

Mammyloveswine · 25/10/2022 11:33

Sometimes I pretend I'm on the voice and record my myself singing then decide which judges I think would turn around..

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/10/2022 11:39

Partner and I get Siri to play the Muppet theme tune to get us up in the morning. There is nothing like hearing ‘it’s time to play the music…’ to help you get up in a good mood. No I dont generally tell people this, lol

CazY777 · 25/10/2022 11:47

Dancing around the living room with my daughter, trying to copy the strictly dancers (I always have to be the man).
Watching animated kids films. dd loses interest after half an hour so I watch the rest when she's at school.

RhubarbFairy · 25/10/2022 11:49

I stand silently outside the bathroom door when someone is inside. I'm just smiling serenely when they open the door and they tend to jump a mile which makes me laugh. Sometimes I wait round the corner and shoot them with Nerf guns as they come out. I'm 40.

I like to dance around the house.

I have a card game hobby that I go to every week. That's always great fun and I come away in a great mood.

I climb trees and go on the monkey bars at the playground.

kitten The woods thing sounds amazing. We have woods next to our house but I'm not sure I'm brave enough. We love rollercoasters too. We're just waiting on DC2 to grow another couple of cm and then theme parks for the big rides are ON!!!

BettyPaws · 25/10/2022 11:58

Running on really muddy trails and deliberately running though the muddiest bits and splashing in the puddles so I get home looking like a swamp monster.

SafeMove · 25/10/2022 12:02

The most fun I have had recently was trying oysters on holiday with my friends (the video we took has us cackling, we were probably really annoying), walking up a massive hill on my own last night to take pictures of the sunset and trying to catch falling leaves with my DC, DP and all my extended family last weekend in the woods. Friends, family and nature.
