…to ask how you have fun??

Not a TAAT, but inspired by one.

What ‘childish’ things do you do for fun? I don’t mean watching tv or going to the gym - I mean the sort of things that make you feel young and silly and happy.

I need more fun in my life and all my hobbies are serious ones!

Party for one with hey google in the kitchen.

Doing impressions and funny voices.

Sometimes my daughter leaves one of her cuddley toys in her car seat to keep me company when going to work and I'll talk to it and give it a kiss 🤣

BamBamBilla · 25/10/2022 12:07

Colouring in books.

Running up the stairs on all fours.

Devoutspoken · 25/10/2022 12:46

Monkey bars in the playground

MysteryCallWTF · 25/10/2022 13:04

I play bass. I'm not in a band or anything, I just play at home and occasionally with DH who's a guitarist, but when I've got my bass in my hands I feel so happy and like the rock star I always wanted to be when I was a teenager.

I didn't start learning until I was 45 and it's the best thing I ever did!

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 25/10/2022 13:04

A park near us has a low level zip line and my ds and I take turns on it. It makes me laugh every time Grin

Kim82 · 25/10/2022 13:12

I hide around the house and jump out to scare people. Their faces make me laugh every time.

Whenever I do anything vaguely domesticated such as unpack the food shop, clean or iron, etc. I pretend I’m recording a vlog and narrate it all in my head.

I also race my 8 year old down the school path if it’s empty. I don’t do it every day but dd has taken to checking what shoes I have on if the path is clear because if I’m wearing my trainers then it’s game on!

YellowDots · 25/10/2022 13:22

I deliberately dole out biscuits in twos and insist that the recipients hold them over their eyes like....well eyes before they eat them.

Jammy Dodgers are particularly amusing.

BamBamBilla · 25/10/2022 14:05

Just went for a walk round the park at lunchtime and I went through kicking the big mountain of leaves.

Yayyayitsaholiholiday · 25/10/2022 14:10

If I’m in a pool I like to try to swim like different animals - jellyfish, otter, dog, shark, eel……….
I'm sure it all looks the same to an onlooker, but in my head I’m channeling the creatures!

So sorry for the late reply but this has caught my attention! Do you play bass on its own or with music on in the background? How long did it take you to learn? Need some new fun in my life!

Myusernamewouldntdojusticetowomen · 29/01/2023 04:19

How,where and why? I'd love to start playing guitar at age 38.

This is cute! I'm going to do this!

TheOtherBennetSister · 29/01/2023 04:32

Dancing round the kitchen with my teenage son.
Charity shop shopping with my teenage daughter. Also, laughing with her until my stomach hurts.
Sharing memes with them both. (Deliberately) getting it a bit wrong to amuse them.
Singing loudly in the car.
My pot plants bring me enormous joy, they're my babies now my real babies are big.
Painting and colouring-in (I got some fancy colouring pencils, like, proper artist ones, for Christmas and they're amazing.)
Jigsaw puzzles and radio 4.
Dinner and wine with friends.
Local fun-run and a beer afterwards.

Actually it's loads when I add it up! This was a good mindfulness exercise.

I am a babysitter type carer for a little boy in the next street. He has a few complex disabilities and can't go out much now its cold. So a few evenings a week I go to his house and we play with all his toys and videogames. He likes dressing up costumes, action men, cartoons, duplo, playdoh, and playing with anything 'goopy'. All very childish and I love doing all of that with him. Its a nice break from having to just do 'adult' stuff.

Added bonus that I love cleaning so after I put him to bed I get to clean up all the paint/foam/general gunk and thats pretty relaxing too.

How beautiful that he has you as a carer in his life Flowers

garlictwist · 29/01/2023 05:00

When I go out on my bicycle on my lunch breaks, I earn points if the traffic lights are on green and I don't have to wait. If this happens three times I am eligible for the "whipping whopper prize" where I have to get down the ginnel to my house without encountering any other people. It livens up what would otherwise be a very samey route.

rebekahnorris · 29/01/2023 05:08

When cleaning the house I pretend I am working in a hotel on a deadline

rebekahnorris · 29/01/2023 05:11

When I'm
Cooking I pretend I'm on saturday kitchen even if it's just toast 🤣

SirenSays · 29/01/2023 05:19

Aww I love these! I have nerf wars with my DH. The winner doesn't have to do chores/cook.
DH and I play hide and seek with the dogs. It's never pre arranged, DH or I will randomly yell Find Your Mummy/Daddy! At the dogs and other person has to drop what they're doing and sprint to a hiding space as they all come running.

crackofdoom · 24/10/2022 23:14

I stick my face in the cats' fluffy tummies and blow raspberries.

At election time I stalk the streets and stick googly eyes on the mugshots on all the Tory election posters.

I like to go to raves and get shitfaced.

@crackofdoom@crackofdoom love the googly eye thing - that's inspired !!

girlfriend44 · 29/01/2023 12:57

Dancing.

MyMachineAndMe · 29/01/2023 13:19

We have googly eyes all over the house! People comment on it when they come over.

I love to sing along to the radio and dance about in the kitchen.

I pull silly faces behind dh's back and act normal when he turns around, even if he catches me.

Epilepsy · 29/01/2023 13:42

I love this thread Smile

I'm fully expecting to be judged like fuck and told this isn't funny but...I'm epileptic and if I have a lie in or lengthy daytime nap DH or one of the DCs will regularly check on me. If I'm actually awake I secretly do something called fake sleeping and when they lean over me I shout BOO and make them jump Blush To even things up, the other night I checked on DD, to make sure she was on her side when she came home drunk, and she did fake sleeping on me.

Sometimes our cats also play the fake sleeping game (although they smack you in the face instead of shouting BOO).

ChimChimeny · 29/01/2023 13:50

Building lego, singing and playing card/board games with DD & DH. DD & I are really competitive but she tries to hide it when she's losing 😁

I love going for walks but no dogs to chase or play with unfortunately. We do have a couple of echo-y bridges we shout "echo" as we go under

My brother read a book about doing as an adult what you enjoyed as a child, so he builds a lot of Lego too.

icanwearwhatiwant · 29/01/2023 13:53

I talk to my cats in ridiculous baby/cat talk that they seem to love.
I have long imaginary hilarious conversations with people that I wouldn't dare have in real life.
I put cheesy music on in the car and sing loudly along with it.
