I know perfectly well what’s in it. Because I’m not lazy and I prefer to do my own research. Why would you believe what I tell you? I could be a congenital liar.

Stop arguing if you've nothing to say then! Jesus. There's no helping some people.

Blossom, don't waste your energy, some people are so far in denial there's no helping them. Save your energy for those with the intelligence to see other viewpoints.

If the extent of your argument is to mention a document that nobody bar the candidates will have read, I'm not the one lacking intelligence.
I'm a Labour voter. You can't even sell the argument to me!

You are barking though.

TheNosehasit · 31/10/2022 13:57

When canvassers come around, I love asking them specific questions. They haven't a fucking clue of the answers.

blackpearwhitelilies · 31/10/2022 14:38

blossomtoes is not the barking one. She has supported her argument by posting the manifesto, which is the evidence. As she points out, she could simply be lying if she summarised it for you. Why on earth wouldn't you read it for yourself? It could give you good material for antagonising the canvassers.

Because it's not relevant in 2022

Yesterday's polls Q. Who would make the best Prime Minister?

A. Rishi Sunak.

on the plus side it shows that we’re not as racist as some predicted on here - many posts re that

On LBC last week a pollster said it was thought that his race would be a problem for between 3-5% of the electorate. i.e die-hard racists.

Gemcat1 · 31/10/2022 22:25

@Rosscameasdoody That is the problem, people decide which potential PM is worth putting in, just look at Blair. I can remember when MPs worked for their constituents and not for their own ego. Labour was and still is a disaster, it's still run by the old men in the union. Johnson decided that he didn't need to follow the law but then Sunak didn't think he did either. Kier also broke the law but we didn't hear anything about it because he's too wishy washy and the interest was focused on Johnson. The reason I think an election would be a disaster is economic. The money markets seem to approve of Sunak so the pound is doing well. We need to stabilise the pound to keep it high but not too high. This has an effect on imports and exports. It has an effect on the stock market. I trust that I don't need to continue. I am worried about the NHS (go to 38Degrees.com) and other public services, we need to ensure our water is either government or English company owned, they stop going on about saving money on pensions and cough up, look at the environment and stop building on farm land, I could carry on but I suspect that you will agree with most, if not all of my concerns.

L1ttledrummergirl · 31/10/2022 23:40

Sorry, what, when did Starmer break the law? I think I missed that.
How is Labour a disaster (especially compared to the last two years?
What makes you think that Labour is run by the unions, especially as many unions no longer pay into the party, not to mention the lack of Labour support on the picket lines?

Could you expand on these thoughts please @Gemcat1?

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/11/2022 00:07

@Gemcat1 PM Johnson repeatedly broke the law he made. At 120+ FPNs, his address was the most fined address in the UK. Starmer received no FPNs because he didn't break any laws.

The keirs beer thing was a Tory lie, dreamt up at CCHQ. You didn't really believe it, did you?Halloween Shock

Gemcat1 · 01/11/2022 00:13

@L1ttledrummergirl It was announced that the police were also investigating Starmer for being at a party while they were investigating Johnson and Sunak. It then went quiet so I'm guessing that the media found it more interesting to attack Johnson than Starmer. Labour is a party which came from the trade unions and most, if not all, of their MPs come from there. Many MPs receive donations from unions, there are 11 large unions which are affiliated with the party. If you want to know more you can google it yourself.

Gemcat1 · 01/11/2022 00:17

@TooBigForMyBoots A devoted Labourite. The next thing you'll tell me is that Corbyn isn't a rabid anti-Semite. He denies it, of course. Starmer was investigated by the police and the last thing on the media was that they were going to charge him.

NickEccles · 01/11/2022 00:43

I think for a lot of us is the simple fact that Rishi is UNELECTED as was Truss! It grates on me a lot & demanding a GE is certainly not parroting......Lets see how it plays out eh? @🤔

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/11/2022 01:28

A devoted Labourite.
Who? Me?Halloween Confused

Starmer was investigated by the police. Twice! No evidence of law breaking was found so no charges were brought.🤷‍♀️ PM Johnson was also investigated and received more than 120 fines to his address, because he broke the law.

Hahahahahahaha

You’ve made that (quite crucial) bit up Gemcat.

newnamethanks · 01/11/2022 11:02

going to charge him ? dear oh dear. Have one of these it will help you think🍺

Woodflower · 01/11/2022 11:36

Blossomtoes · 31/10/2022 11:00

Most probably labour will screw up even better once they get in.

You think that’s possible?

Well I will be happy if proved wrong, but labour had in the past, found ways to screw up even when there was no oppurtunity.

They abandoned the UK thru brexit ( what people voted for). Well, I dont say Tories did well but they somehow brought the wreck (🙄) to the shore thru the brexit, pandemic, war and now recession in the world.

I would easily vote for Labour if they tell what their plans are FOR ( not against) their country. They seem to stop at GE.. do they have a plan after that?

With this sort of 'oppurtunity' labour will have a haven of screw ups. They will eat up the wreck with nothing left to build.

Again, I will be very happy if they dont. A country is much bigger than a party.

Woodflower · 01/11/2022 11:41
  • a hell of screwups ( not haven)...
Blossomtoes · 01/11/2022 11:45

They abandoned the UK thru brexit

What would you have liked them to do, given that they weren’t in power, it wasn’t their project and the majority of the party and its voters didn’t want it?

So much has happened in the last six months this article is a bit like a history book but it summarises Labour’s plans as they stood in April. They seem retry constructive to me.

Blossomtoes · 01/11/2022 11:45

Pretty, not retry!

Woodflower · 01/11/2022 12:07

@Blossomtoes

I am glad they have a constructive plan. May the able be the PM!
